I really filter what TV shows and movies we play at our house. I would like Hayden’s “screen time” to be educational and Hayden wants it to be entertaining. Octonauts is the best of both worlds. Hayden really enjoys animals and learning everything there is to know about them. He also likes to pretend to be a super spy, or super hero to save the day. Octonauts is the perfect show for him. I really like that they also teach about the importance of team work, problem solving, and to always keep trying. The Octonaut crew is full of so many cute characters. Hayden loves to pretend to be Captain Barnacles Bear.
A brave polar bear extraordinaire and the leader of the Octonauts crew. He’s always the first to rush in and help whenever there’s a problem.
His favorite movie recently has been “Here Come the Octonauts.”
The DVD has 6 really great, and action packed episodes:
~Sea Snacks
~Adelie Penguins
~Colossal Squid
~Walrus Chief
~Electric Torpedo Ray
~Crab & Urchin
Hayden’s favorite episode is for sure Adelie Penguins. He loves the “creature report” song and I often hear him singing it around the house while pretending to be an Octonaut saving new under water creatures. Octonauts is such a great show to teach and entertain your toddlers and preschoolers.
In “Here Come the Octonauts,” Captain Barnacles must figure out how to free an old friend who is trapped beneath the ice; Kwazii tries to rescue a reef full of creatures before an undersea storm strikes; and Peso must help a school of frightened fish who have invaded the Octopod!
Based on the books of the same name by Vicki Wong and Michael Murphy, who write under the name Meomi, Octonauts is broadcast weekday mornings on Disney Channel’s Disney Junior block. The Octonauts received a BAFTA nomination for Best Animated Preschool Show in 2011 and 2013; and in October 2012 was nominated for an International EMMY Award.
And watch out in 2014 for some great new Octonauts events—the Octonauts have recently partnered with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to work jointly to raise awareness of ocean exploration and science and advance NOAA’s mission! The partnership, which extends learning beyond the screen, includes plans for events at aquariums nationwide and joint development of educational materials!
There are lots of really fun and FREE Octonauts activities you can do with your kiddos. Like decorating your own Kelp Cake, navigate a maze, play hide and seek, other great coloring activities, and “look and find” games at Octonauts.com
And you can find more Octonauts activities and more from NCircle Entertainment here.
The Octonauts were even nominated for an International Emmy Award. “Here Come the Octonauts” is available for the FIRST time on DVD on January 7, 2014, from NCircle Entertainment. It is available at Walmart and many other retailers nationwide!

My 5 year-old loves all the characters. He has gotten Octonauts toys for his birthdays and Christmas for two years in a row (we have the Octopod and 4 of the Gups now!). His love for the Octonauts is still going strong. We asked him recently who his favorite is and he said Captain Barnacles, but he also loves Kwazii, Tweak and Professor Inkling! When he plays he even tries to imitate their voices and their accents. Haha! His favorite Gup is the Gup X!
