Effective Tips When It Comes To Choosing Child-Friendly Appliances

Families with children look at their homes from a completely different perspective. They want a home that is safe for their children, which means investing in child-friendly appliances. Most people believe that accidents occur outside homes. On the contrary, most accidents take place within the safe haven of homes. Hence, when it comes to children, you would have to buy appliances that can reduce the chances of accidents.

Refrigerator
When it comes to buying a refrigerator, look for one that has appropriate storage capacity to suit the needs of your family. Also, the fridge should have a freezer compartment that is located on the top, so that small children cannot get access to it. Children by nature are curious and this can cause them to experiment with the controls and working of the said appliance. So, opt for a model that comes with a child-lock control to prevent the important settings from being changed. And, if your children are allowed to help themselves to food stored in the fridge, look for a refrigerator model that has grab height shelves, so that your small kids can easily take the snacks that you have placed for them inside.

Oven
Today, there are numerous ovens to choose from. However, with kids at home, you need to opt for an oven that comes with a child-lock and a double-walled glass door. The door will ensure the oven stays relatively cool when touched by kids, and this will prevent them from getting burnt. You may also want to look for an oven that does not tip over when a child uses the oven or its door to sit or stand on.

Microwave
It is unimaginable to lead a life without a microwave. If you have space, you can opt for a wall unit, so that your kids cannot get access to it. In addition, you can match the microwave to your kitchen décor and save on space, as a result. Make sure that the microwave is installed at a height that is right for you. Furthermore, invest in a microwave that is big enough to heat, cook or defrost, without the food touching the side walls.

Great tips for those of us with little ones. We have a freezer that is on the bottom and I really just don’t like it. Fairly new but with all those various baskets so doesn’t hold much at all either. I find it useless for a family with kids and buying a lot of freezer items. Glad we have another one in the garage so we can shop and freeze more products
