I haven’t given any updates about my weight loss journey on here in quite awhile. If you follow any of my social media sites you know it has been an everyday part of my life now. I’m currently down 26 pounds. In just four pounds I will be at my half way point. If you wanna know a secret- I never thought I’d get here.
I always had excuses. Always. Some of them I even believed. Then it hit me. Like *really* hit me. I was staring at myself in the mirror and I was just completely disgusted with where I had ended up. I grabbed my phone and snapped a picture of the number on the scale and swore that I would never see that number on the scale. Ever. I said no more tomorrow and swore I’d lose some serious weight. When I realized how heavy I had become I was really frustrated seeing how big of a number I had to lose and felt intimidated. I took that moment to forget about the end number and just think 10 pounds. Then 20, then 25. Now I’m aiming for 30. Wanna know another secret? I think at 30 pounds I’ll finally spill my numbers. I know I should share them but I’m truthfully just embarrassed and ashamed I let myself go so much.
I have been taking photos from the start which is good because I never measured and while I keep saying I will I still haven’t! I will, eventually. These were taken on the 1st of the months:
Here I am yesterday. I just cut a lot of my hair off. I wasn’t ready to part with long hair so I just got rid of the super long hair.
It was just too long and Hubby had been trying to get me to chop it off. He is one of the only guys to like short hair instead. In reality it had become too long for me too. Rolling over in bed was like strangling yourself.
Overall I chopped almost 9 inches off. It feels great and was so nice when I went running last night! I’m glad I did it but I’m also glad I didn’t go any shorter. This is my natural color as I haven’t died my hair in over 10 years.
I also was able to pick up my new glasses today too! Like them? Part of getting fit for me is also getting healthy. I’ve neglected a lot of my personal care as far as Dr. appointments and I’ve been visiting everyone and getting all caught up. I still have to go see my regular Dr. and schedule a physical. I have no clue where I stand on things like cholesterol or things like that. I am glad that they will see I’ve already made life changes by the time I do.
I’ve been doing Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred for the past few months. I don’t do it daily but I try for at least 3x a week and I aim for hitting my bike trails to run/walk or ride my bike 4x a week. I’ve cut down my portions and trying to eat better but I’m not going drastic. I still love ice cream & french fries. I’ve also used the app RunKeeper which is my favorite app and I track everything in it. It also syncs with my playlists on iTunes so I can use it while listening to my music. I’m averaging a 14 minute mile. I know it’s not good but for me that is great!
I hope to see you when I hit my halfway goal- sooner, rather then later!

I always enjoy reading your blog. I have to say this one I am very impressed with as you really put yourself into it, very seriously. I like the new hair cut and you are doing very well with the exercise and dieting. I am very glad you are my friend on facebook and that I get to see the pics of your son, but this is a keeper very much so in itself. You are on a great start. Congrats!
Congratulations! You look great! I am inspired, seriously. Cheering you on for the rest of your journey. π
You go girl! You look AMAZING!!! Have been following your blog off and on since you were J. Leigh designz (or something like that) and I think these are some of the best pics I’ve seen of you!! Love that hairstyle on you and the weight loss is incredible! Feeling a little inspired by you tonight to get with the program myself! π Keep up the great work!!
Congratulations on the weight loss!! Following your journey has given me more motivation.
I love your new hair cut! I think it’s a good compromise between short and extra long. I used to have hair past my butt and chopped it to above my shoulders. That was too drastic for me and I regretted it for a long time.
Super super cute cut! And congrats on the loss!
WTG Jennifer look at you!! You look Fabulous and your doing a great job getting in shape. LUV LUV LUV the hair!! the highlights are HOT and the cut is great on you. Really brings out your face.

Oh my gosh Jennifer…You really look amazing and I LOVE the haircut. That is adorable and I like it so much more than your super long hair. Very cute on you. And your weight loss…you can tell by what you said that you were determined to do this and you’re a strong motivated lady. The pics you took shows just how much you’ve lost in your belly and everywhere. I keep scrolling back up to look at your hair…gosh, I so love it! That was a great choice in a style for you. Keep up the good work and keep taking the pics to share. Wish I was as strong as you are but I’m the one with excuses and seem to always find a new one. Very proud of you, it is NOT an easy thing to do.
You look great! I love your hair and the natural highlights! Keep up with what you’re doing and you WILL reach your goal.

Awesome job!!!! Love the haircut π
OH Jen, you look AMAZING! The best part…is your new confident smile! I love the haircut photo, you are radiant. Isn’t it incredible how a woman feels when they RE-learn how to put time and effort back into your self and the self love we all need sneaks back in? Wonderful to see this!
Wow! The new haircut looks awesome and so do you! Thanks for the inspiration for getting my rear in gear to lose some weight too!
You look great!! I love the haircut.
Way to go! You look amazing. You’re looking happier, healthier, and so much more confident in yourself! I’m still losing as well, and I’ll tell you a secret.. I eat healthy but I allow myself a small ice cream cone every night. It keeps my sweet tooth at bay lol. I’ve been following your journey since you started, and it’s helped me stay on track more when I see you being so dedicated. Can’t wait for the next update! π
You look GREAT! Could you share some of your healthy go-to meals – especially breakfast & lunch ideas?
You look great! Way to go on the weight loss & I love your new look!
Jennifer you look fantastic! What an inspiration!
OMG I LOVE your haircut! Congrats on the weight loss! You look awesome!!!!
You’re doing fantastic and you look awesome!! Great job!!
Wow talk about incentive. So glad I read your post. I gained much weight after baby and let me tell you, I feel disgusting. I am short, so 5 pounds on me looks like 12 lbs on a taller person. I need to lose at least 20lbs (again that “looks” like double for someone else). I wish I could just stop eating junk, but my husband brings home cookies all the time. It’s terrible, he is very overweight too. It’s just depressing and sad. But thanks to your inspiration, today, not tomorrow is the day. Going to start juicing more greens and get lean. Thanks.
Good for you. It’s about time we as women start thinking of ourselves again. Me included! You are motivation to many of us out here!
Congrats~ You look fantastic!
I just cut my waist length hair to super short and I love it!
Congratulations on your weightloss, it must feel so amazing, and you should definitely be proud of yourself.
Awesome! Keep up the great work! I love your new haircut. Very pretty.
woot on almost half way there!
Way to go! I have about 20 pounds to lose and I’m still waiting for my “aha” moment. I can’t seem to find a way to fit regular exercise in between working full time, two kids and a husband. Congratulations on sticking with it (and reaping the rewards)!
