How is your summer going? Here in New England it has been HOT HOT HOT! We’ve had more 90+ days this year than we have had in years but sadly we’ve also had more rainy days then ever too and our river is flooded! The current is high and the water is dirty and we haven’t been on the water all summer. I think this is the first summer in my entire life that I have gone this long without being on a boat!
See, there is just something about being on a boat in the middle of the middle of the water with the day being yours. You know as you head out that the day is going to be great and you are going to have a wonderful time. Sometimes for me the fact that it’s a beautiful day, I’m away from the responsibilities I feel I’m stuck too when I’m home, and I have my family by my side is all I need.
My kids are dying to get on the water too! They just love being able to get on the boat and drive out to their favorite island or go tubing! I love being able to grab my camera and spend the day capturing all the fun we have. I am so sad little Sawyer hasn’t had a chance to play in the sand and jump around in the water.
We recently went away for a small family vacation to Lake George and I was so excited to see you could rent boats. Did you know that renting boats is a great way to test it out different kinds of boats and see which one fits your family best! We are right in the transition of boats our selves and just gave up the fancy bass fishing boat and are hoping to buy a new pontoon for next year. My in-laws have a gorgeous boat that fits all of us so we’re lucky to still be able to tag along with them.
Next year we’ve decided to give up our busy boardwalk vacation and head to a quiet lake maybe in New Hampshire and give our kids that lakeside vacation. We’ll be renting a boat for the week and I’m already looking forward to it. If I had thought of it sooner we would have done it this year! I can’t wait as some of my favorite summer memories as a kid were when we’d trail our boat up to Lake Sunapee, NH and I spent the whole week in the water. I can’t wait to give my own children that same summer memory!
