Have you heard about the Wilton Pops! Sweets on a Stick Contest? If not pay attention because you can win yourself a $500 Visa Gift Card just by making an original creation of your own cake pops! First I recommend purchasing the Pops! Sweets on a Stick Book. I scoured and read every word on every page. I don’t know what it is but this book and the Cookie Exchange book I find so interesting and I just love reading them! As always Wilton provides not only with tons of amazing color pictures of idea after idea but they provide step by step directions on how to make them. They show you different variations and different themes you can make them in too!
You can pick up everything you need to make them from your local craft store such as A.C. Moore, Michaels, and JoAnns.
I want to make sure you have all the important rules and details for this contest o I’ll post some of it here. However, to read the full and complete details (which I recommend) you can visit Wilton or click HERE for the official rules and HERE to register your pops entry!

Well, it is only fair that I try these out too, right? While I didn’t try an {original idea} as required for the contest I did look through the book for ideas. For Christmas eve I made brownie pops for the first time {above}. I picked up an additional second pan but I’ll definitely pick up one more. One box will fill the brownie pop pan 3x. They took me longer then I had planned but I just kept checking them with a cake tester. I then dipped the tips in melted chocolate and the kids & I dipped them into various toppings. Above they are done in Wilton Sprinkles and chopped up Peanut Butter morsels. I also did them in shredded coconut and chopped up toffee pieces.
On the cake pops {below} I stuck to the basics. These were for Gavin’s preschool snack. I have to be honest and thought these would be the simplest thing ever. They do take some time. All of it. The book didn’t state the cake had to be fully cooled, or even cooled for that matter so I let it sit for five minutes and then crumbled it but it was still moist and warm so when I mixed it with the frosting it was incredibly sticky. I’d highly recommend letting the cake sit an hour or two. My balls were anything other then uniform. I didn’t measure because I didn’t have gloves and I have nails and didn’t want to dig it out of my spoons. I kept going. I put them in the fridge anyways. Once I dipped them and sprinkled them they all somehow came together and looked uniform. Both the cake & brownie pops were a lot of work but it was such a sense of accomplishment.
Everyone absolutely loved both of them and wanted to know all about them and how to make them.
So what are you waiting for? If you haven’t started yet and plan on entering make sure to enter because this contest ends on Monday, January 1oth, 2011! Hurry because after that you won’t be able to enter for that $500 Visa Gift Card!
