Who are you?
My name is Fumi Bull and my sister, who is my partner for Davie & Chiyo is Himi.
I am 23 years old and my sister is 25 and is married with two little kids, Alexandru and Andrei! (three and one, respectively)
We currently live in Vancouver, Canada, the most beautiful city in the world, but we spent the first half of our lives in Tokyo, japan. As you may have guessed from our names, our mother is Japanese and our father is English.

How long have you been selling on Etsy?
Davie & Chiyo, is a brand new Etsy shop, just opened at end of January, 2009. We also have a complementary webshop, which was also opened beginning of this year. What made you decide to open up shop?

We decided to open up this shop on Etsy after we saw the huge market out there for pretty clutches! But it all started last year, when Himi started making bags and hats as something that she was able to do at home while raising two children. Me on the other hand, have just graduated from a university with a business degree, eager to apply my new found knowledge (sort of …) in real life! So we started talking and and bit by bit the ideas behind this shop came together. And few months later, here we are, shop open, blog running, and being featured on Feature Friday!

Embroidered Purple Japanese Silk – Frame Clutch (One of a kind)

How did you decide on your shop name?
Davie & Chiyo… you must be wondering where that name came from. Well, if there are any readers out there that personally know me, you may easily be able to figure it out, but for the rest of you, here is the explanation! It’s very simple actually, my father’s name is David and my mother’s name is Michiyo. Yes, very cute indeed. But there was more to it than just trying to show how much my parents mean to my sister and I. We really wanted to create a name that was a mix of the two cultures. At the end of the day, that’s who we are, and that’s what we wanted to make our products be as well. The idea of using a kisslock metal frame as an opening for purses originated in Asia, and by completing the clutches using various fabrics such as retro cotton and decor fabric, made them more modern and westernized. We are recently also loving the idea of up-cycling, so we have a whole collection of beautiful unique clutches using vintage kimono and sash fabric!

What is your favorite item in your shop and why?
My favourite item in the shop, currently, is the Asian Sensation Clutch. It is made with very beautiful vintage sash material, and it is just sooo gorgeous! But in general, I love the glasses cases that we carry in the store because the shape of it is so unique and they come in all kinds of fun and bright fabrics, making it impossible for anyone to not find one that they love!

What are some of your favorite stores from other sellers on Etsy?
I have many shops in Etsy that I love!I love the shop by JellyBeans. She sells these wonderful water colour paintings in a shape of a tree. My favourite is the family tree where the names of all your family is painted into the tree! Such a unique idea and it looks amazing.Another shop that I love is AriaImages. She does amazing photography work, and I recently did a trade with her! I gave her a camera case from my shop in this navy Asian cotton, and I received a photograph of a branch with red berries against a crisp blue winter sky. Sooo pretty!

So… with all that said I am so excited to show you her amazing coin pouch!
Isn’t it gorgeous!?!

This is 100% cotton on the outside with blue bubbles, and light blue dupioni silk on the inside
