My 6 year old Hayden has a huge imagination. HUGE! It is hard to keep up with him sometimes because he is always imagining or pretending something. We went to our State Fair over the Summer and saw a booth that was promoting a movie that was going to come out, “The Boxtrolls.” There were even some Boxtrolls that were actually there! Hayden was so fascinated in the whole thing. He has been asking about “the monsters in boxes” ever since, and has pretended to be one off and on for months. Finally we were able to watch The Boxtrolls this weekend!
Hayden loved it and it was a great family movie.This great film has been nominated for 13 Annie awards! It was a heart warming story and had some pretty silly parts that had Hayden rolling on the floor laughing.
Quirky, mischievous and good-hearted, the Boxtrolls are unique creatures who have lovingly raised a human boy named Eggs in a fantastical charming cavern below the bustling streets of Cheesebridge. But when the evil Archibald Snatcher schemes to capture Eggs’ family, it’s up to Eggs and his feisty new friend Winnie to save the Boxtrolls!
The Boxtrolls are misunderstood by the towns people as scary monsters, but are really funny inventors. They dig through the trash to find things to tinker with and hide in their boxes if they get scared by something. It is a cute story to not judge just based on outward appearance and friends can be made in all sorts of places.
Hayden hasn’t stopped talking about Boxtrolls since we watched it. He saw a sewer cover in our neighborhood and asked if he could go yell into it and let the Boxtrolls down there know he is nice and wants to be friends. He has also decided his Boxtroll name would be “Hay” since it is short for Hayden. He is so funny that boy.
Boxtrolls is a great movie that would be perfect for all your older kiddos. You can find the Boxtrolls at Amazon, Target, and Walmart.

We love this cute family movie and my niece and nephew have a blast watching this movie when they come over! It has so many wonderful scenes to watch!
