Bissell is doing everything they can to help save our planet! They are doing everything they can in their company to help! They not only produce earth friendly products but do everything they can at their company to recycle! They have policies set in place all over their company to encourage recycling. All papers, card boards, Styrofoam, etc is recycled at Bissell. They even take the waste from the products they make and put them back into the making process. Do you know they even use rechargeable forklifts and have idling time lines for their shipping trucks!

OxyPro™ Carpet Spot and Stain RemoverThis is the first Zero VOC Spray that has all the conveniences of an aerosol spray and is EPA recognized!I was sent this OxyPro Spray along with the Little Green Machine when I mentioned I was going to give this a try on a fruit punch stain that was previously set into my rug. I didn’t truthfully have any hope that it would come out since this bright red stain had been on my rug for so long, however it came out! Originally that stain was going to be my test sample until my 8 year old son decided to have art time without following the rules! He was supposed to sit at his desk and lay down newspaper. Instead he took out his oil based acrylic paints and had a grand time on his BRAND NEW rug until he squeezed one of the tubes and the end popped and paint went all over.
To make matters worse he then ran to get a wet wash cloth and rubbed it into the carpet trying to get it out knowing he had not followed the rules. He had also carried the dripping tube across his room to his desk where he was supposed to be causing this bright red paint to spill ALL across his room! Above is a photo of one of the rubbed in bright red spots on his carpet. Anyone knows oil based paint knows the hopeless feeling I had grabbing my new Little Green Machine from the closet I had just gotten the day before. I knew this stain had a very minor chance of coming out especially since it took an hour or so to find the bright red washcloth in the laundry room, so I grabbed the OxyPro Spray and sprayed all NINE spots and his bean bag chair (he threw this over some of the spots hoping to hide them….thus staining this as well). I waited about 5-10 minutes for the spray to set and then took my machine over it.
As you can see it immediately started pulling up the red paint! I was super excited. Now, I did have to spray the spots 2x and then spray the machine cleaner over it the last time to fully get the paint out. But I was SO PLEASED with this machine and when I told hubby about it he couldn’t even tell where it had happened. The bean bag however is stained permanently. I think the super thin material allowed it to completely dry and set and with nothing for the Bissell Little Green Machine to back against it struggled pulling the paint out. However the bean bag was replaceable his brand new rug…not so much!I can’t tell you how awesome this Bissell Little Green Machine is! Had I not had it on hand when this happened we would have been looking to replace a brand new bedroom rug. I STRONGLY suggest going out and purchasing one of these! They are earth friendly and at $89.99 they are reasonably priced. I already talked my mom into getting one and she already cleaned up a few pet stains that were supposedly set as well.
There is a downfall to this machine though….
it will do such a great job you will be looking at cleaning the rest of your rug while your there!

We started by recycling paper (newspapers and magazines), bottles (plastic and glass) and cans. We then did away with plastic shopping bags and use cloth ones for shopping. We changed a lot of lights to CFLs. The next step is planting our garden (I have a brown thumb, so wish me luck!).

We replaced all of our bulbs with CFL’s, we have a temp controlled thermostat, we have replaced our dishwasher and refrigerator with energy star products, we recycle everything the township will take, we consign anything that others can use, we bring our paper to the school for recycling, and we are trying out a garden. We are trying to use products made from recycled products or that are eco-friendly.

Our family uses an outside solar grill. We try to avoid using the inside oven when possible!
In my house we have changed all of the light bulbs to the more energy efficient bulbs, we have installed ceiling fans so that we do not have to run the air and heater so much, we have changed our ways of doing things altogether…walking instead of driving, etc.

We’ve also installed a water-saver showerhead in our bathroom that reduces the flow of water with a touch of a button when you’re soaping up or shaving.

We are buying more recycled products like printer paper and other paper products. There are even tshirts made of recycled plastic bottles. So we are always on the lookout for these products.

I’ve made several cloth grocery bags from material I had on hand and keep them in the car ready to use. I’ve also switched to energy efficient light bulbs, I switched to Toto water saver toilets, recycle everything possible, of course, keep the heat at 65 degrees (and wear a sweater), built a compost in the garden, and expanded the garden area. I bought my house last year and it didn’t have any appliances, so I put in all energy efficient appliances. I would love to get a “Little Green”!

In the past 4 months or so my husband and I have made so many changes in our lifestyle to green up our act and make our home a healthier, greener home for our 3 young children and to also be kinder to the environment. Everything from using all natural health and beauty products to recycling anything and everything we can. Using personal hydration vessels instead of drinking bottled water and bringing our 8 canvas bags with us when we go shopping as opposed to using store plastic bags. I am also using my own homemade cleaning product. In case someone wants it! Here’s a recipe for a natural home cleaning product. It is easy to make, safe for the family and contains no toxic ingredients. It is a Creamy Soft Scrubber. You simply pour about 1/2 cup of baking soda into a bowl, and add enough liquid detergent to make a texture like frosting. Scoop the mixture onto a sponge, and wash the surface. This is the perfect recipe for cleaning the bathtub because it rinses easily and doesn’t leave grit. Add 1 teaspoon of vegetable glycerin to the mixture and store in a sealed glass jar, to keep the product moist. Otherwise just make as much as you need at a time. We just started using this and it works fabulously!

We reuse, recycle and repurpose most things. We’ve changed every bulb inside and out to the energy savers. We’ve switched to non-toxic paints, energy efficient vehicles and we’re saving now to convert to solar (every new product that can be is solar but we want to convert the entire house). I make our cleaning products, and cook mostly from scratch. We’ve disposed of fabric softeners, moving to vinegar. I know there is more, but I can’t remember what. Cloth napkins, but that’s not new for us.
I love having my grandkids here as often as possible, and we love to paint, plant and make bubbles. But I’m having a hard time getting on my knees to scrub the carpets. Lucky for me, my 8 year old grandson has made it a personal quest to help his ‘granny’ whenever he’s here.

We are quite happy to use five different recycling bins (glass, cardboard, metal, plastic, and styrofoam), since our recycling service has trucks setup to handle all those categories.

And we have the household electronics pretty much ALL plugged into power strips so we can totally shut them down (a wall-mount transformer “brick” dissipates significant power, even if the device it powers is shut off). Enlightened self interest there — the Florida power grid necessitates some form of surge suppression, if not battery backup, for anything connected to the wall…

I’m trying to buy recycled whenever possible and I always look for biodegradable at least. Also I’ve recently been taking my own reusable shopping bags to the grocery store. Sometimes I feel like my little efforts don’t really amount to much, but if we all would pitch in just a little more, I believe we could make a significant difference. There is strength in numbers!
To be more green, our family has started composting all our kitchen scraps. Not only does it reduce trash, but it makes the best fertilizer for our garden. Thanks for the great giveaway.
We have planted our own garden with fruits and veggies that we eat! We use recycled paper towels and toilet paper. We recycle at home and I use potato peelings and fruit peelings as fertilizer for our garden.

To be greener, we’ve started to limit our trips with the car- less running into town, more planned town trips, we reuse anything we can, we’ve changed our lightbulbs and we’re training the kids to turn lights off when they leave the room… its impossible!!
I can totally give this a good home… I promise… we’re moving in September and I’ve gotta get some stains out of the carpet or else I’m never getting my security deposit back!!

To be greener my family and began a “simple” life a lil over a year ago. We raise our own food, buy in bulk, and got rid of the fancy shmancy things. Living on about half of what we were…. And only green cleaning products. All outside lighting went solar, and inside are the energy efficient ones ☺ I know theres more we’ve done I’m just so excited!

We plant a garden every year, vegs, and flowers, We plant trees each year. We have our own chickens(free range), and goats for milk and cheese. We recycle or upcycle everything we can. We compost. We use eco friendly light bulbs, and avoid paper use as much as possible(cloth napkins etc.)And hubby uses scrap metal for all his artwork.
My family is trying really hard to be “greener”. We’ve been using recyclable grocery bags and walking wherever we can to save on gas consumption!

We are growing a veggie garden, recycling containers into gardening pots, and I use the kid’s outgrown clothes for various craft projects if I can’t sell them in a yard sale.

We have been making lots of changes around here. I take my own bags to the store, we recycle, changed out our light bulbs, installed some rain barrels etc.
We recycle anything that is recyclable in my house and we use reusable bags. I’m also going to plant a garden this summer!
We recycle as much as we can, and compost every thing we can. I bike, or car pool to work, all of our bulbs are CFL’s I use reuseable bags at the store. save rain water for the garden, low flow every thing. And we are instaling low E glass windows. thanks.

We started a compost bin this year.

I am finding out that being Green is a learned process and my family is doing alot of good things.I especially continue to remind my children on what we have to do in our household to be green verses the old. We are using energy efficient light bulbs–we are using reusable shopping bags-we always recycle. We walk instead of drive to certain places.and the list goes on and everyday we learn more and more. Being Green is a habit that we adjust to everyday.
We are using a 'mysterious & wonderful' laundry system that is detergent-free. 😉

We are recycling more and using more CFL bulbs. We have always made an effort to conserve electricity (and save on the bill) by turning off lights and appliances when not in use.

Shorter Showers (using a timer for the teenagers), using newspapers that we will recycle to clean our windows instead of paper towels and replacing all of our light bulbs with the energy efficient, long lasting variety just to name a few.
We are using as little packaging as possible and packing the girls lunches in reusable containers whenever possible.

We’re using cloth napkins instead of paper; recyle whatever we can; give away things we no long need to others in need; use both sides of paper from printer when we can and grow our own veggies.

We recycle most household wastes. We conserve water and electricity.
Along with ‘our’ daily recycling efforts, we use ‘re-usable hemp tote bags’ for grocery shopping instead of using ‘plastic bags!
We also use ‘three-way lamps’ in our home! They make it easier to keep lighting levels low when bright light is not necessary!

This year we really focused on reducing. We reduced are plastic waste(no more bottle water) electrical usage(lights on only when needed) TV unplugged when not in use.
We are rcycling, using green products, having a garden and learing to compost.

The first thing (easy) I did was change our light bulbs to those swirly kind. We buy more “green” products and we ride bikes around town (weather permitting).

To go greener, other than the stuff we were already doing we cut back on our driving significantly, started making our own cleaners, starting unplugging electronics when we weren’t using them (the big ones, like our xbox, our big energy guzzlers), planted our own garden and switched to a “gray water” system in our bathroom.
Even though the cleanup is faster with the paper plates,cups etc; our family has chosen to use the old fashioned method real plates, glasses, silverware. We feel we are helping the landfills! Thank you for this opportunity!

Our list is a big one. We recycle,reuse, and reduce. I make natural dert, and cleaners, grow gardens, have a kill-A-watt meter to test our appliaces kw., hang out clothes inside or outside depending on weather. I save rain water for our gardens. I never have trash I have been recycling for about 10 years. I’m wanting solar panels and wind mills. My list goes on and on. We on a daily basics live greener.

I’ve tried to make a number of changes to my daily routine to do my part to make the world a greener place. For example, I’ve initiated a recycling program for my small apartment building by setting up bins in the entryway and taking them to the nearby center each week. I’ve made an effort to unplug non-essential devices and appliances when not in use. I’ve cut back on my water usage by taking shorter showers and running my washing machine and dishwasher on more efficient settings. And I’ve started walking and biking a lot more than I used to to cut back on my fuel usage. I hope all of these small measures add up to reduce the size of my carbon footprint!

We have changed all of our lightbulbs to energy savers and no longer accept plastic bags at the grocery store
I have been married for thirty-five years now. My darling husband and I were green before it became fashionable.
It is easy to make your life greener – we recycle, have our house powered by solar, take our water from our own well and we grow our own food. People do not realize that growing your own food saves in lots of different ways including but not limited to saving the fuel it take to process and transport the fruits and vegetables – also it is so much healthier for your family. We plan our week so that we only have to drive into town once a week.
The best part of always having been a green family is that we naturally passed our philosophy and techniques on to our sons. Both of them have never known any different! They are green, and don’t even realize it. It is very rewarding to go to their house and see them live their lives, leaving a smaller footprint on the planet.

We use reusable totes for ALL shopping.. we plan the shopping trips to use less gas…
We are washing our clothes in cold water only, using reusable shopping lights, and changing out all the light bulbs 🙂

Our tap water tastes terrible – we have been buying plastic jugs of water at the store to drink instead. Now we are cutting back on that by flavoring the water (such as making ice tea) and we are installing a Brita filter at the faucet! A green decision that helps us save the other kind of green ($$$) as well!
