Will you be my Valentine?

I haven’t gotten flowers in at least four years from my hubby. Last time I did I later found out they were left overs from a funeral. Seriously! So I have long given up on the hopes of any romantic notions for this “holiday” I’ve come to note this day is for the couples that have not yet gotten married or have kids together. It’s a holiday for the people who still need to swoon and impress. Once you’ve been married the trying stops. My hubby even with all the guilting I could manage will still be working late.

As pathetic as I am I will still be making his favorite meal tonight so he can have it when he gets home. He loves my Chicken Parm recipe.

Yesterday the kids and I took some time to make our Valentine’s ourselves. Johnny made his himself and of course Gavin needed some help. For about $5 and less then 2 hours time we had some really cute Valentines! Hope you have a great night. I’m off to feed my 2 Valentine’s (ages 10 & 4) lol!

I’m not yet married, and my boyfriend of almost 3 years is working late too. And he’s never really done anything for me for Valentine’s Day. I guess I knew that going in to it… but man, would it still be nice to get some flowers!

Happy Valentine’s Day to us, those with the less romantic men…

Happy Valentine’s Day! Hope your evening with your two little valentines is great! I live alone so mine will be alone, but I am not complaining – I have 9 grown children & 29 grands + one grt grand The kids’ dad passed away in 1991. I took balloons (from the $1 store) & candy to a few single ladies & to 2 of my little grand children today. It has been a good day! I helped them make valentines the other day for their parents.

My old man won’t even be in town today. Not that it would have made any difference. We don’t celebrate Valentines day either. I was talking to my mother in law yesterday and said Valentines day is for young love, lol.

I am right there with you! I don’t even get a Happy Valentine’s Day quote said to me. So I always make it special for the children. Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone!

Awww, funeral flowers? That’s so sad!
I’m making mini heart pizzas for my kids since that’s what they want.
My daughter gave me a bag of english muffins with a bow wrapped around it that made me smile and laugh. It’s a joke from the simpsons (in case anyone’s wondering).. homer drives past a billboard with a phrase that says, “This year give her english muffins.” LOL

My hubby of 35 years usually does something for Valentine’s Day for me. This is also the 36th anniversary of our first date. But life has been really stressful lately with a relatives one week to go baby dying, our neice sick and don’t know why and going from doctor to doctor, etc., ER,tests, and other things happening, and so we just feel too stressed to enjoy it this year. I usually love it, but not this year.
It is nice you can enjoy it with your little ones! Happy Valentine’s Day!

A funeral? Now that is really depressing and it would have really freaked me out! I guess it’s the thought that counts, LOL!

I have been with my husband for 21 years and for the past 20 years I can count on 4 fingers how many gifts he has actually bought me. What I do now is say honey hand over the wallet cause I am going shopping & I just buy my own gifts. At least this way I know I like them! lololol

Seriously though I really don’t mind not celebrating Valentine’s Day …. After all who really wants a VD? Sorry but chlamydia can not come-a-knocking on my door! lololol πŸ™‚ Ok I know you just had to at least chuckle at that one? πŸ™‚
Chin up it’s only another day which is thought up so that we can all go out and spend money on stuff that makes us fat … So thank your husband when he comes home for not giving you a few extra pounds this year πŸ™‚

Oh and by the way … One year my husband “jokingly” said the flowers he bought me were from the graveyard! He later said he was really joking … but sometimes, to this day, I still wonder.

Well, I always thought my husband was cheap, but at least he always got me something, even if it were a $1.00 peice of candy in the shape of a heart or just a card. I finally had to tell him to stop buying me heart shaped necklaces because I had like 5 of them. The last one was a real cheap one from Walmart that said bargain buy right on it, I ended up giving to my 7 year old niece years later. This year he brought me three heart shaped mylar balloons with various I love you’s on them. I love balloons, so I was happy. After 21 years married, I think I’ll keep him and appreciate anything he gives me from now on. I’m sorry for the rest of you, but men really have no clue. I think it took me awhile to train him that it’s just common courtesy for that one time of year.

  10. Well, my hubby worked tonight so we did not even get to see each other. But me and the kids made a delicious dessert! Happy Valentines day to you!!!!

Personally, I think that’s so sad that after marriage, people stop trying πŸ™ That’s not the way it should be! There’s ALWAYS time for romance no matter what age or relationship stage your in.

I’m glad that you and your kids got to spend time together and share in the love of the holiday though πŸ™‚

Leftovers from a funeral! At least he brought home flowers and he was being frugal! Last Valentines, I did get a card and some flowers my daughter picked out from the grocery store. I was happy with that. I agree, the day is more for those dating oor without kids. πŸ™‚ I love the goodiees you guys made!
