There have only been a handful of movies that Hayden has been really super excited to see in theaters. Disney’s Big Hero 6 was one of them. He was hooked when he saw the very first preview for the movie. He thought it was hilarious this huge marshmallow looking robot was calling a fat cat a “hairy baby.” Hayden loves robots and super heroes so Big Hero 6 was right up his alley.
Big Hero 6 is and action packed comedy adventure about a 14-year-old boy named Hiro Hamada. He is a genius and robotics prodigy. Hiro meets a lovable personal companion named Baymax. After a devastating turn of events unfold in the streets of San Fransokyo Hiro turns to Baymax and his diverse group of friends to help him. Hiro, Baymax, adrenaline junkie Go Go Tomago, neatnik Wasabi, chemistry whiz Honey Lemon and fanboy Fred transform into a band of unlikely heroes, and together they try to solve the mystery.
Hayden asked for weeks when Big Hero 6 was going to hit theaters. He finally got to see it Thanksgiving weekend with his six cousins, ages 5-10 years old and they were all obsessed! I stayed home with Halli while all the big kids went, but they came back still laughing hysterically and retelling their favorite parts of the movie. Hayden pretended to be the robot Baymax for weeks. Hayden’s birthday is a few days after Christmas and asked to go see Big Hero 6 again! I was so excited that I would finally get to see it now too. He took his Baymax action figure to the movie this time, and loved watching it for the second time. I loved it too! I knew that it was one I would get immediately for our Disney movie collection.
Big Hero 6 is such a great story about friendship and love. It was also really entertaining. I love “kid” movies that also have humor adults can also appreciate. Everyone in the theater was laughing. Big Hero 6 is the perfect family friendly movie.
My family isn’t the only ones who love Big Hero 6. Big Hero 6 was a big winner on Sunday at the Academy Awards. Big Hero 6 took home the gold for Best Animated Feature!

My favorite bonus features are for sure the theatrical short FEAST and the all the Easter Eggs hidden inside the movie! FEAST is a sweet short about a super cute dog whose love of food impacts his master’s search for love. This darling short made me reconsider our decision to not get a dog for a second. It is the sweetest little movie and is my favorite short I have seen in a while.
There are so many little Easter Eggs hidden throughout the movie. It has been fun watching the movie with Hayden and trying to find them. Here is a little sneak peek at some of the Easter Eggs in Big Hero 6:
