I love Maine. We go every year since we have family that lives in Wells but this year instead of going on our regular trip of either Hampton Beach, NH or Lake George, NY we decided to go to Maine and get a hotel instead of staying with family. We went with our in-laws as we do every July and it was great having hotel rooms together right on the beach.
I love Wells Beach but the tide comes up shortly after lunch and stays up until the late afternoon and then it goes waaaayyyyyyy out. The boys love how rocky the beaches are and climb all over them looking for snail shells.
The kids loved having a beach day. Nanny got them each a boogie board and in the water they went while we sat by the shore and watched. The water so very cold. Johnny of course went in as deep as possible.
While Gavin hung out in the more shallow waters but still dove right in too.
Sawyer was hilarious and wanted nothing to do with the water. In fact the sand freaked him out too and he refused to take his sandals off because he didn’t like it when his toes touched the sand. Gosh, isn’t he cute? {ps. the swim suit is from Gymboree}
He had fun playing in the sand with the pails though. Eventually Johnny came in from the water and built a little castle with him.
Speaking of Johnny, he let me take more photos than he normally does. I love this photo of him from Nubble Light house. It really made me sit back and look at how old he is. I can’t believe how big he is.
Every year we come here and this year he wanted to pretend like he fell off the cliff. Every year when we visit we always try to get one nice family photo and one silly photo. Last year at Nubble Lighthouse they pretended to hold it.
The photo I took to show he was fine afterwards still looks scary though. The cliffs are steep. I promise you though he was on a huge rock that fully supported him.
Sawyer was feeling pretty tired that day and just wanted Daddy to hold him. I love this photo. I want to frame it, canvas it, or something.
On our little trip up we managed to hang out in all the major little towns and of course enjoyed our Ben & Jerry’s ice cream each night. The weather was amazing until it came time to come home. It down poured, like TORRENTIAL downfall. Guess who was the lucky one driving? Me, of course.
I can’t wait to go back next month! I love visiting Maine each summer!

Looks gorgeous! We’ve never been to Maine but I’ve always wanted to go!
I have lived in Maine my entire life but have never been Wells Beach, we will have to go and check it out!
What a beautiful place! I love the beaches and lighthouse. Glad you can have fun with the photos. Always nice to have a nice family photo but the silly ones are extra fun to look at!
i have never been to maine. i did not expect it to have such a nice beach there either. it looks like there is a lot of things to do there all year round.
I always wanted to go here. It is very beautiful!
What a nice vacation with your family. That’s cool that the tide goes out so far and then the boys can look for “things” left behind. Too funny on your youngest not wanting his toes to touch the sand. lol Thank-you for sharing these beautiful pictures!
We almost moved to Maine a few years ago. Your photos make me wish we had 🙂 I love where I am, but the coast is so appealing. I love walking the sandy beach looking for rocks/shells. 🙂
I’ve never been to Maine, fantastic pictures!
What a fantastic place to go. I have never been but have always seen and heard just how much beauty there is to enjoy there. You have such an awesome family and you have such beautiful children. The little one really reminds me of my oldest grandson.
I have never been to Maine, but I have always thought it looked beautiful. I think a summer trip there would be the perfect time or even an early fall trip. It looks like the beach is fun!
