I have a secret. I missed the memo on baby wearing. I had two babies and totally didn’t even realize the option was there. Either I didn’t see it or it just didn’t stand out to me. No one mentioned it to me and I was none the wiser. Then I started blogging and I discovered the world I was missing out on as a mom. Gavin was already past the toddler age and while I was able to give it a try, he preferred to walk.
Then I got pregnant and I knew it was definitely something I wanted to do right from the beginning. Right from the start I loved it. I loved it not because I was hands free but because it kept hands, as in other people’s, away. He was born in mid March when it’s freezing, snow covered, and everyone is sick. The last thing I wanted was everyone starting the ‘Let’s pass the baby’ game. Not only did this prevent that but it also just kept all the hands away in general. With him so close to me people felt less comfortable about just reaching out to rub his head or hold his finger. I loved it.
When he hit one he was a clear mama’s boy. He wanted me and he wanted to be held. All. The. Time. My carrier came in so convenient for being hands free. Not just for daily use but on vacations, plane rides, grocery store trips, you name it. I didn’t have to use my whole trunk to store a big bulky stroller and I was able to carry what I needed and still attend to my other children while keeping him close.
