My family is very active, and we try to make healthy life choices. We all exercise together, have regular doctor visits, try to eat healthy, and have a busy lifestyle. It wasn’t until last December that I realized the importance of annual eye exams. My 7-year-old son Hayden came home with a note from school that said he may be near-sighted. I had not ever thought to have regular eye exams for my family. My husband and I have great vision, and Hayden had never complained of not being able to see properly. After a visit to an Optometrist, we realized he was having trouble seeing. Hayden didn’t know he wasn’t seeing properly because he used to seeing poorly and having one eye do all the work. He now rocks really cool black and red glasses every day and I realize the importance of eye health! A nation public awareness campaign called “Think About Your Eyes” is helping to promote the benefits of eye health and urge people to get annual comprehensive eye exams.
Sometimes I think our eyes are taken for granted. Eyes are such a vital major muscle that we use every day! Recently Think About Your Eyes surveyed members of national fitness center chain Life Time Fitness, and found that some gym-goers neglect their eye health despite being very conscious of their body health and fitness. Just like all our other muscles, eyes need regular care to maintain maximum performance.
Eyes are so amazing! When we take care of them properly and get annual eye exams some eye problems can be detected at their early stages when they are most treatable. Thankfully we got Hayden in for an eye exam when we did. His right eye sees a bit clearer compared to his left. If we wouldn’t have gotten him to see the Optometrist when we did his left eye could have gotten worse. He loves wearing his glasses and I love seeing his cute face in them. He loves to read and is such a great student. My mind is at ease knowing he can see properly.
My whole family has now had eye exams. I want to make sure we are keeping up on our eye health! We will all have annual eye exams every year or more if necessary. my grandson wears glasses,he was struggling in school and they suggested getting his eyes checked,,and he improved so much after getting them
We have gotten boys checked every year. I am so cautious with thier eyes. Specially now with tablets and school.
I haven’t been to see the eye doctor in more than two years, so I should probably go!
