I love watching the imaginations of my children explode. It is my very favorite thing to watch them pretend, and make-believe different things. Children have such an amazing talent for turning something simple and ordinary into something magic and wonderful. As a kid I loved imagining with Play-Doh. I would spend hours sculpting the perfect castle fit for a princess. Now that I am a mom I still love sculpting with Play-Doh, and I love playing with Play-Doh with my kids. They always come up with such fun ideas. Playing with Play-Doh is one of our favorite things to do as a family.
This year Hasbro is celebrating the very first World Play-Doh Day on September 16th! World Play-Doh Day is a day that celebrates how amazing Play-Doh is, and how it has been apart of everyone’s childhood. Play-Doh is something that everyone has some kind of great memory with, and it continues to captivate the imaginations of millions of children and artists of all ages, across the globe.
I can’t think of a better time than World Play-Doh Day to pop open a can of Play-Doh with your kids to squish, mold, roll, cut, extrude, and explore with their limitless imaginations. While you are busy sculpting and celebrating World Play-Doh Day sculpt a favorite landmark, cultural icon, or patriotic symbol to show your national pride! You can submit a photo of your Play-Doh sculpt to the Play-Doh Facebook page between August 16th and September 14th for the #WorldPlayDohDay Facebook celebration “parade.”
My kids were so excited to celebrate and get sculpting. When I asked my 6 year old son Hayden what he thought of when he thinks of America, and what are his favorite things about our great nation he had a list of ideas. He thought of an eagle, pizza, the American flag, and baseball.
We are a big baseball family. My husband LOVES baseball and played it as a kid. He was a really great baseball player and even won awards in high school for it. Now Hayden gets to start to play, and it is such a fun time for out family. So we sculpted a bunch of baseball things out of Play-Doh so even my 2 year old could participate. We made a baseball field, a baseball mitt catching a baseball and a hot dog. Because who can go to a baseball game without getting a hot dog?!
It was so fun playing and sculpting Play-Doh with my kids. I love that now we have an official World Play-Doh day to celebrate on September 16th. Have fun celebrating with your families and maybe your submitted photo of your Play-Doh sculpt will be part of the #WorldPlayDohDay Parade that will be featured on the Play-Doh Facebook page on September 16th.
