One thing that isn’t a secret to anyone is my love for shopping for cute little baby & toddler outfits. Something about those little pieces of clothing are just too hard for me to resist! Of course when they are little they let you put them in whatever you want them to wear and I take full advantage by wanting to put my boys in all those cute and trendy outfits.
It’s hard to sometimes justify the prices I pay for some of their clothing. The worst part is some of my favorite, most expensive outfits for my kids have sat in their closets never getting used. It really doesn’t make sense. They grow so fast it is just another reason why spending a lot on clothing for them can be foolish.
If I had any tips and tricks for dressing babies and toddlers comfortably for play without breaking the bank it would be these:
- Stick to the basics. They really don’t need a lot. Pants, shirts, a sweatshirt; what does your child need in a typical day? How many days do you go without doing laundry? That’s how many outfits your child needs.
- Buy pieces in like colors. If your child’s clothing all matches then you can mix and match the pieces to create additional outfits.
- Don’t let name brands fool you. We pay a lot of money on clothing and we don’t like when they get stained and ripped quickly. You’d be surprised at how well some of the less expensive options, like Garanimals, hold up!
It’s no secret that kids grow quick, so save pennies when possible. We love Garanimals and always have several pieces in our closets since they go up to size 5T. I love being about to buy them pieces for under $5 that they can go off to Grandma’s or as spare clothes at school.
