A Dream For My Child, A Dream For Tomorrow

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of MetLife.

As parents we always try to give our children the world. The struggles we went through are struggles we sometimes want our own children to avoid and we do everything we can to make sure our children have the best start possible. We want our children to be able to dream big but we also want our children to hopefully one day meet those dreams.

my parents

Both my parents were still high school students when I was born and they fought an uphill battle from the start. They did everything they could to keep their struggles from affecting me. They sacrificed so much for me. They both worked long hours and they both worked more than one job. My mom even chose her part time jobs around which stores could give the best discounts so I would be in all the same name brands the other kids at school were in.

MetLife recently shared the “My Dad’s Story – Dream For My Child” video and just like my mom sacrificed everything for me so I could have more, so does this father.

The father in that video knew that his daughter was important. That her future was worth every sacrifice he was making. He knew that his hard work could help make all her dreams come true.

From the moment I found out I was pregnant with my first I began dreaming about his future. Crazy enough that little boy is almost a man now and dreaming about his own future. As his mom I want him to aim as far as he can and to be open to all possibilities. I want him to use his brain but follow his heart. I want this for all my boys. I want them to know that the possibilities are endless. That if they apply themselves through hard work and dedication they can achieve any greatness.

my dream for my kids was that they be healthy and happy and be a productive citizen,,I didnt raise them to sponge off the governent and not work or help their fellow man,,they are everything i ever dreamed for the,,,they are now 30 and 40 yrs old and are parents,,work, give back to the community and I am so proud of them,I must have done something right,,as of today, neither one of them have been arrested and actually vote to make a difference,,I am very blessed

  2. My dreams are that my children can accomplish their dreams. I had my first son very young and kind of grew up with him but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve really realized that no matter what our dreams are for our children, the best thing we can do is encourage them to reach for their own!

  3. I know this is something we can all relate to. We want the best for our children and are willing to go to great lengths to ensure they get everything they need for their dreams to come true.

  4. I want them to be healthy and happy! (And I won’t be upset if they give me some grandbabies one day!)

I truly hope that my girls live their lives to the fullest and, above all else, never stop believing in themselves and stretching to reach their full potential. And of course I hope that someday they realize just how much I love them!

  6. What an incredible story. It’s amazing how inspiring our parents can to be us when we become parents.

  7. My dreams for my boys are almost identical to the dreams you have for yours. I want them to be as successful as they can be (in whatever way they define success) and to be HAPPY!

  8. What a great family photo Jen! My greatest dream for my children would be for them to fulfill their dreams and not let anything stand in the way. I would also pray that they remain healthy.

  9. The best thing about being a parent (for me) is watching them grow and learn. I am a little bummed that they’ll be all grown up sooner than I’d want them to be but I will enjoy it while it lasts and make sure their future is a good one!

  10. My prayers are that my children remain healthy. My greatest hope is that I would prepare a successful track for them to be able to not struggle financially as adults. Whether that be through a trade, college degrees or on the job training. I hope they choose jobs that can prepare them for the future.

  11. A beautiful message and story. My dream for my kids is a simple one. I just want them to be happy, in whatever they do.

I just want my kids to be happy and healthy and do all the things they want to do in their lives!

  14. Isn’t that so true… I would sacrifice a lot for my children. I think sacrificing shows them too about giving of oneself for others. We try to explain this and go through this. Thank you for a heartfelt post.

  15. Karen says

I want all of my kids to be happy in their lives. I want them to have the things they want, and enjoy their accomplishments with people they love.

  16. Whitney J. says

I know it sounds so cliche, but truly my biggest dream for my children is that they are healthy and happy. I pray that they will learn to set goals and accomplish them and never stop chasing their own dreams!

  17. I totally agree. I have been thinking of my children and their future from the time they were conceived.
