EVEREADY® & Scholastic “Reading Under the Covers” Pajama Jam Party

I have always loved books and reading. I want my kids to be good readers and have a love books like I do. I try to have fun activities for them that involve books. I rotate books depending on the season and holidays that are close by, we go to the library often, and I try to come up with fun activities or crafts that go along with my kids favorite books. Right now my kids favorite thing is making a blanket fort and reading our books in there!

Scholastic and EVEREADY® are teaming up to help parents shine a light on reading, even in the dark! EVEREADY®’s high quality batteries and flashlights are reliable and affordable and can be purchased at Dollar General or Target. Right now you can go to Scholastic and find a bunch of fun reading resources! Fall is quickly approaching so my kids and I will eventually be stuck inside. Scholastic has something special right now that is perfect for those cold days inside this fall and winter. You can enhance valuable family time together with Scholastic’s printable activities, book lists, tips for raising a reader and a free Scholastic book offer at eveready.com/reader.

Also families in the NYC area are invited to visit the Scholastic Store in NYC for a fun Pajama Jam event on October 18, 2014. You can also host your own events at home to celebrate reading with the downloadable Pajama Jam Reading Party Toolkit.

My kids and I had a blast during our own Pajama Jam Reading Party. My 5 year old Hayden especially loved helping me make a blanket fort that would be the perfect location for our party. All of my kids “friends” (their stuffed animals) were apart of the party and we had a few snacks and drinks. My kids even found my old Teddy Ruxpin and all of his books at grandma’s house so he joined the fun. It was nostalgic and wonderful to watch them. They loved hanging out in their pjs, with comfy blankets, books, and treats. I loved watching them get all cuddled up in their fort with their books.

Halli’s favorite part was of course the food! She is a girl after my own heart…. She also has a few books she is obsessed with right now. She loves “The Hungry Caterpillar,” by Eric Carle, and also any of the books from Baby Lit, Pride and Prejudice is her favorite though. Hayden also loves books and is starting to read on his own! He was so proud to read books to me and his little sister.

He is the best brother. He loves the book, “What Brothers Do Best/What Sisters Do Best” by Laura Numeroff, and illustrated by Lynn Munsinger. They had such a great time in their fort for our Pajama Jam Reading Party.

EVEREADY® and Scholastic are teaming up to bring you downloadable party tool kits with a DIY activity guide so you can host the best party on the block.

Check out all of the great resources, printables, and ideas over at scholastic.com/readingunderthecovers and eveready.com/reader. You and your family will love having your own Pajama Jam Reading Party. Hayden has already asked when we can have another party, and I know it will be a new family tradition.
