I’m a germ freak. Big time. I have to wash my hands after everything. I’m constantly taking a sponge around the kitchen and cleaning up crumbs and spills from the boys and when I touch the sponge I feel like washing my hands. Again. But wait? Didn’t I just wipe my counter with that and now I think I need to wash my hands?
Have you ever thought about what it is exactly that you’re pushing around on your counters? What kind of germs you are moving around? I love my kitchen and I don’t want it to just look clean I want it to BE clean. I want to know if I’m taking the time to wipe everything down and make it look good it’s truly cleaning it. I want my counters to be smooth and I want to know that if one of my kids put food down anywhere that it’s okay. What if you took a look at what your sponge really was carrying around? What if you could get a closer look at what was hidden from our eyes.
We were asked to take a dish cloth and use it to clean our kitchen for three days to clean up like we always and then stick it in an envelope with an ice pack and overnight it to Bounty. While I really wouldn’t normally use a dish cloth for three days without changing it I thought it would be fun to see how bad it really was. I never got my actual results in the mail but I’m hoping too because I cleaned an egg up that last day and while I rinsed it out I wonder how much of that stayed there.
From reading some other bloggers posts I was able to see they got disturbing results back. I was glad I didn’t get mine! I did however decide that when it comes to my counter tops I’m going to start reaching for the Bounty I keep on my counters currently.
