I really wanted to find a way to take advantage of all those milestone photos I took of Sawyer over the course of his first year but I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted to do. I looked all over Pinterest and several crafty blogs but nothing really got me excited. Here’s how I ended up with this cute Monthly Milestone 1st Birthday Banner!
I started out by printing out all my milestone photos. Putting them in order and then figuring out my color pattern. I always wait until the last minute so when I was out buying his cake pan the day before the party I also grabbed some precut blue card stock that came in several coordinating colors but normally I’d just cut it myself.
To attach the paper to the photos I used a double sided tape runner. You can find it at our affiliate Amazon.
Once all my photos were framed in card stock I simply took a basic hole punch to the corners. Get in far enough where you don’t worry about breaking the hole later on.
To attach the photos I used simple ribbon I found at Walmart. I looped it through and knotted it. I left it loose enough so that they had room to move and not touch each other. This will help you when you want to hang it. On the ends leave them long. You can always snip them later but you can’t make them longer. This makes it simple to hang.
If you aren’t like me waiting until hours before to make this it fold up nicely and then could be placed in a ziplock bag to store for your party. Great make ahead!! Don’t forget to throw two thumb tacks in the bag too!
Then when it was party party time I pulled out my banner and hung it by tack behind the main table. I then spread out the other photos I wanted to share also backed with cardstock. This gave them more support for being constantly handled. I think it came out great. Here’s a picture of the final product.

I love this idea! It is such a cute idea and easy! I think this would also work great for a banner for high school graduation. you could take all their pictures from the first day of school. Start with their kindergarten picture and end with their senior year picture. I love this!!
