I have always wanted a fryer. I just didn’t know how much I’d like using one! For years I have looked at them but wondered if they would be worth the purchase and the storage space. Finally, after eating yet another serving of soggy fries from oven I knew I either was no longer making french fries or I was investing in a fryer.

When the Calphalon XL Digital Deep Fryer came in I was loving the fact that while it came with a regular manual it also had a quick start book so you could use your fryer right away. I was able to completely set up and go with this. FYI- it doesn’t state anywhere where what kind of oil to use so I’m assuming vegetable or canola are both fine. This book also has a table that shows some basic times for most of the things you would fry.
I started out with a basic bottle of vegetable oil. No fancy brand. 
Inside there is a line for both the minimum and maximum amount of oil that the machine needs to work properly. In the end I was glad that I had three containers of oil on hand because that is how much it took.
Then you are ready to warm the oil. On the left side you will need to set the temp and then hit start. It won’t do anything to let you know it’s working- but it is.
Once your temperature is reached drop in your food and set the time and cover. You will see steam coming up when you use it so if possible unlike me don’t do this under your cabinets.
See them cooking? They will become golden brown once done. I still can’t quite figure out the handle which drives me crazy. Both times I’ve used it it’s fallen off and left me scrambling on what to do. I wish there was a sure way you knew you had it attached right or it wasn’t detachable.
Once removed lay on paper towel and softly try to press to remove as much oil as possible and enjoy. 
I can’t wait to make so many other foods in our new fryer. I love being able to enjoy them quickly and with very little mess. In future I will invest in a large tub of oil to easy filter and pour back in to reuse which will be easier then the three containers.

I also like the copper cookware set they offer, I always wanted a nice set to use and that would look pretty hanging from an over head pot rack. Great giveaway, I too love fried crispy foods enjoyed like the restaraunts serve, pan frying just does do it right and this way is safer.
