I’ve talked about Webkinz with you guys on posts. We have been huge fans of these plush friends and their online world for years! We have probably over 50 friends to be honest. We love that it’s a place the kids can go online and play and have fun. The fun began with Johnny and its continued onto Gavin and I guess I should admit I’ve been hooked on a few arcade games here and there too. We’ve built quite the webkinz world and if you check out some of my past posts I’ve shared some of it with you.
My kids, however, have been spending a lot more time on the iPads then they have on the laptops though. So when we heard that they could play through the brand new {free} Webkinz app we were thrilled and dowloaded it immediate. I should mention again that it is a free app! Let me also take the time to warn you that this app and the online world are two completely different playing worlds and don’t interchange. Webkinz Pets can be registered in both Webkinz Friends and Webkinz World, but you do not need a plush toy pet code to play Webkinz Friends!
I do want to warn you though that there are things that will prompt the children to want to buy gems that cost additional actual money. I do wish they’d remove this as it’s hard to explain to a child that they can play but can’t always spend more money and the additional gems can cost between $1.99- $99.99. Gavin said it was fun and his only request was that it wouldn’t take so long to load between the features but if you play the online version you will know sometimes it loads long there too.
Gavin gave Webkinz Friends a try and loved setting his friends up through the adoption center like on Webkinz World. He had fun building his town and loved setting up his pets room and building his garden for the bakery. However we did find it a bit confusing for little ones and this game is definitely one that will need some parental help and explaining during the first several uses.
This holiday season make sure to pick up a Webkinz pet for your child or grandchild and let them discover the fun world of Webkinz World and Webkin Friends! The codes that come with the pets will give them a whole year of playing fun (and will extend their time one year out from the last adopted pet.
