It’s been a month. Okay well technically it’s been one month and three days but who is counting? I took these photos of him on Saturday (his official one month) but his one month check up wasn’t until yesterday. It’s crazy to believe we started the first two weeks of his life going back and forth over his weight. We kept watching the scale go down until he lost 12% of his body weight and fell to the 5th percentile for weight. Can you believe we capped the month off strong though from 6 lbs 1 oz all the way up 8 lbs 6 oz!!!
Sawyer One Month Facts:
Head: 14.75
Height: 21.50
Weight: 8lbs 6 oz
53 % for height
10 % for weight
This month was big for major milestones but it was the month for us getting to know each other. Breastfeeding was our biggest challenge and we kicked it off with tears and frustration. It was honestly one of the hardest times for me. I didn’t think I’d make it past two weeks but I can tell you that one month in we are struggle free. I should mention he loves to nurse. He eats regularly and we’re feeding on demand. Sometimes that means every few hours but lately it seems to be every hour.
Unlike his brothers he is not sleeping through the night but we’re not having it too bad either. We’ve definitely had a few up all night long nights but over all we are sleeping 4-5 hours in length before needing to nurse again but generally he nods right back off. He sleeps now completely in his Fisher Price Newborn Sleeper where he seems the most content.
We’ve been to the Dr’s already for a couple reasons other then weight. We have had a nasty diaper rash which turned out to be yeast, two clogged eye ducts, and we finished the month off by getting put on meds for reflux after watching him gag, choke, and spit up so bad it came out his nose.
As you know with almost 150 boards of Pinterst I’ve loved seeing he Milestone shots. I tried the whole laundry basket thing but didn’t seem to work well with us as my basket is tall not long. So I grabbed the Nap Nanny seat and tried that too.
A few other notes:
We finished the month still wearing newborn diapers and newborn sized clothing. We’re not buying anymore and looking forward to bumping up to the next size as we have both waiting for us. The occasional ‘cooing’ noise comes from him too.
We’re super sad the first month flew by so quickly but looking forward to all the amazing moments month two will offer us!
Oh I can’t wait to watch him continue to grow. My favorite little dude, Sawyer!!
Awww he is just precious!!! So glad to hear that your breastfeeding struggles are a thing of the past!
Can you believe how quickly the first month passed? I’m so glad the breastfeeding worked out for both of you.
He is adorable! It really makes me happy to hear that breastfeeding is going smoothly for you now. 🙂
He is so cute!
I just love looking at this kid!! 🙂 I am enjoying watching him grow!
You know I love seeing photos of Sawyer… my favorites here are him with the monkey and the one in the basket! He is just so beautiful!!
Looking forward to more milestones and more photos!
He’s absolutely adorable and I’m glad to hear things are going a little more smoother.
Ha! I used the laundry basket bassinet, too, since i couldn’t find (or afford) the Moses baskets I wanted. Still, I got a new laundry basket out of the deal (I purposely bought the longest one I could find), which I get plenty of use out of now that the little one is older!
