Our Listerine Oral Care Challenge #healthyhabits

Last month my family received an Oral Care Challenge kit from Listerine. It contained many of the products needed to maintain good oral hygiene that is so important in overall health. When you think about it it’s actually amazing just how much oral care health plays a role in the health of the rest of our body. Even during my pregnancy I made sure that even though my check up landed in my eight month that it was too important not to go. I’ll return next month to get my x-rays and follow up if need be.

As a family what helped us?

Family Brushing
What worked for us was Family Brushing. The idea or concept never even dawned to me until I heard it but once explained it really did make sense! Just how they say we should all eat around a table together can connect a bond well all we should all be doing that to build smart routines with our children as well!

When it’s time for your children to get ready for school or when they are getting ready for bed make sure that instead of making this time about their oral care you make it time for everyone’s oral care. By your children seeing you to take the time to brush, floss, and use mouthwash each day shows them that it’s not just important because we say so but that we mean it and do the same for ourselves.

The boys dental check ups just happened to also land in this challenge and the dentist had an additional suggestion for Gavin.

While we already preached the importance of flossing, Gavin was failing at properly getting in the back of his mouth and my assistance wasn’t catching what he didn’t. I already preferred the hand flossers but they aim sideways. The above Reach Flosser allow me to easily access the back of his mouth and floss properly between all his teeth.

This challenge has definitely help strengthen the importance of not just brushing your teeth every day to the boys but it’s showed them that we as parents take our own oral care important as well.

“I received products and compensation from Johnson & Johnson and The Motherhood as part of my participation in the Oral Care Challenge. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this post are my own.”
