Virus Attack & A Change Of Plans!

Late last night I caught a really bad virus. One that immediately started shutting down programs. I freaked out as I’ve had viruses before but nothing like that! I had been assured that the virus protection our cable internet provider (CHARTER) was more then enough coverage and would take care of everything. Boy, was I wrong!

After many failed attempts in safe mode and several “free effective programs” telling me my computer was just fine (when it was clearly not)I flew out to buy Norton. After installing it I immediately did a full scan and repair. Do you know that it found 140 tracking cookies that weren’t cleaned by going in and removing them manually or detected by any of the other programs. It also found 7 MAJOR viruses on my laptop. Ouch!

Needless to say I am now clean and running smoothly. I really didn’t want to spend the money but it was well worth EVERY penny!

I had planned on getting up an AMAZING giveaway today but because of the hours of time spent on the virus I am now behind in my baking for tomorrow. I have Dessert Duty and have so much to get done. I will be making PB Fudge, Maple Walnut Fudge, Cookies & Cream Cake, Cookie Dough Brownies, and Forgotten Kisses Cookies.

Stay tuned though because I have a feeling I’ll find sometime between now and Monday to get it up πŸ˜‰

Have a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving to all of you!!

So sorry I know how stressful this can be. I seem to get a virus on my computer every time my NERD husband is gone out of town or gone for a year deployment. HAHA but that one bought me a new computer. And while I am here I would love the recipe for the cookies and cream cake. YUM YUM.

  3. Oh man, sorry that you had to go through a nasty virus like that O.o
I know that for us bloggers, or even those of us whose lives are spent online, a virus can be beyond devastating! I’m glad to know that everything is running smoothly now though πŸ™‚

  4. Yikes, I don’t think I’ve ever had a virus like that. Actually, I haven’t had one in a few years … at least that I know of. I just use the Microsoft Security Essentials.

Oyy….that stuff can be so overwhelming.

I was hoping the change of plans was that you were bringing me some of that delicious looking cake, though πŸ™‚

  6. Oh I just hate when that happens! Actually my husband hates it even more, because I usually come crying to him. I can’t help it, I am a massively under qualified for doing much more than a small scan. He doesn’t mind helping me out, but he also takes care of a lot of the same issues at work.

No wonder you are on baking duty. If I could bake something that looks that good, I would never have a free moment. I have already eaten, but I would definitely indulge in that dessert. πŸ™‚
