Two Feet Of Snow & A Week Without Power!

Just a quick note to let you know I’m alive and that we made it through the week with no power, cable, the internet, etc. We live in New England so we know snow. When we heard snow was coming we all did what we normally do. Go shopping for the basics, not the emergency kits. We just expected to have to shovel ourselves outcome morning like every other nor’easter. But this wasn’t any other storm. This was October still. We were in our prime for fall foliage which meant all out trees were still filled with leaves. So when you wake up to this at this time of year you know you’re in trouble!

My view when I sat up in bed…

We had lost our power the night before so it was no surprise to wake up without it still.  Luckily we own this bad boy(below). Of course, it didn’t leave us like normal but being able to heat the house and use the fridge and coffee machine made a huge difference. We also were able to use one TV and either the DVD player or the Wii. I will definitely pay more attention to the $5 bin at Walmart. Hubby & I had nothing we could watch.

My Best Friend on the front porch!

After being without power for so many storms we bought this just before Hurricane Irene came our way. You know because here in MA we’ve had tornado’s, hurricanes, and even felt an earthquake in the past 6 months. You know because here in MA we have to worry about all these things it seems…

We had this in 20 minutes so I knew it was coming. I just never thought we’d wake up to all our trees looking like this:

Hubby is pretty upset over a few we lost. Of course, a huge branch is dangling over the new, huge shed we just bought and put up. We never catch a break.

Anyways just thought I’d let you know we made it. I’ll be away for the weekend as now I am miserably sick. From a sore throat, sinus infection, headaches, you name it. Just once I want to know- Can I get a break?

Holyoke Mall? They were the only town not affected. We ended up there to do the same. The lines for gas were unreal!

Can’t imagine, and I feel for you. Glad it’s behind you.

We went without for three days once and I was not pregnant or sick….and I thought I was gonna lose my mind.

Feel better soon – like yesterday.

Unbelievable, it’s been so nice in the midwest but I’m starting to gear up for what’s to come. The horrible weather seems to come sooner and harder each year. Good luck!

Wow, that is nuts! Beautiful photos, though 🙂

  8. Holy cow! That is just crazy – and totally awesome that you guys were prepared! I would be really sad to lose trees, too – that always bums me out. And I so feel you on the ‘can I get a break?’ thing – good gravy, life has been crazy lately, hasn’t it?

Jeepers! And I was shivering in our 50ish degree temps yesterday. Glad you guys are okay and the power is back! Hope the rest of winter is better to you.
