They learn to communicate with others, play fairly, help, work together and to feel like they are part of something important and worthwhile and can make a difference- even if it is in a small way.
My son just started high school soccer this summer. The coaches have him eat, sleep and talking soccer. They have such a strict policy on EVERYTHING… get caught with alcohol/drugs, you are out. Get arrested and not cleared… you are out. Oversleep and miss any part of school… you can’t play in the game that night.
I also love that they want HIM to responsible for himself now. If he needs something or is going to miss anything… HE has to call or email the coach. They said they don’t want to hear from “your mommy” anymore.
I could go on, but the main thing I am seeing from Josh is he is becoming more independent, responsible, reliable, and driven. I am grateful for school sports!
Children learn to play together or how to get along. They learn how to work as a team to to get the job done. depending on age responsibly, accountability .sometimes friendship . learn how to play whatever game it is.
they learn to work hard to get to their goals. hopefully that in life all you can do is your best because it isn’t always about winning but doing all you can .Confidence. I could go on and on but i will stop here.
Kids learn valuable lessons in teamwork, cooperation and selflessness. They also gain self-esteem. I think all children should be involved in at least 1 team sport or activity.
