Play Ball!

Saturday was absolutely insane for me.I had a baseball ceremony, 2 games, a preschool birthday party, and then to my surprise my own birthday party. I’ll warn you now that this post is filled with photos. This is Gavin’s first year playing Tball and Johnny’s second year playing minors.

Someone thought it was a great idea to kick off the baseball ceremony at 8am on a Saturday morning. We march from the police station to the field. We get a police and fire engine escort over. We then all stand around the field for the actual ceremony of the Pledge of Allegiance and the first pitch.

Gavin’s first Tball game was then at 9am. He was so excited! After years of having to sit around his brothers game he was glad to finally be the one on the field.

Of course you can’t expect a 4 year old to be serious the entire game. A little happy dance here and there is expected.

Until it’s time to bat and you hit a really good grounder past the pitchers mound.

There is something about the helmet that puts him into serious mode. Here he is standing on first just waiting for the chance to run to second.

And thrilled beyond belief when he gets to run home!

From here I dropped Johnny at home to help his father with the fire. It was the last weekend to burn and because of moving the shed and cutting down some trees we had lots to burn. I then brought Gavin to his friends bowling birthday party. After that it was run home and grab Johnny because it was time for his first game.

Of course at his age the game is all serious.

At least he’s always easy to find among the blending uniforms with those hideous yellow addidas cleats his father let him get.

He makes it nearly impossible to get any good photos of him. He’ll make sure to stand at angles I can’t get him at. Of course unless he’s waiting for his turn to bat and I happen to call his name forcing him to urn around.

Of course we’ve now entered Gavin’s nap time (yes I’m spoiled he still naps!). He was getting rather miserable at this point and completely frustrated that he couldn’t see the screen to his Nintendo DSi XL. We finally got him happy by flipping a chair over him for shade. He was so pleased with this and remained like this for most of the game.

From here we brought Johnny to a friends house to hang out and then home to put Gavin down so I can finally get a shower. Then we were off to what I thought was dinner with the inlaws but was actually a surprise party for moi. And for the record….. I’m still in my 20’s, for now.
