If you’ve never heard of it, it started over on An Island Life.
Sound like fun?
So, for this week’s question:
Q: I asked this tonight on facebook and the answers are interesting!
I’m curious. If you wrote the ‘Facebook Etiquette’ what rule would you add?
So, I ask you guys here too.
A: Me, personally, I can’t stand when I get tagged in a picture as a contest entry. It’s not a picture of me, don’t tag me! I’m not entering that contest I don’t need the pictures down my wall and in my stream. Also, please don’t advertise your site on other business. It’s one thing to post on a sponsor’s wall that you’re running a contest to letting fans know about the contest but don’t go to another person’s blog page and advertise your site, business, or contest without asking permission first.

Stop sending me Vampire/Farm/other requests and no more poking me. Really don’t have time for that when I want to know important news from family/friends.
i don’t like the farmville stuff… or the “so and so answered a question about you” why ? just why?
Stop sending Farmville etc. requests and “Blah Blah answered a question about me”
I agree, there should be an option to keep your friends from sending you stupid requests. And I really hate that one when it tells you someone has answered a question about you! I think someone actually posted on my wall only to find that crap.
lol @faith i hate the “this person answered question” too.. i think id also make it a rule that u dont have to check in every 10mins with irrelevant facts about your day.. “:eating pizza”, “txting people”, “bored”.. not things i care about!!
I don’t like being tagged in other people’s pictures, either, when it’s not a picture of me. Other than that, whatever.
Definitely stop sending stupid requests for things! Also, don’t post something on there your opinion on something or ask for opinions on something and then complain when people don’t agree!
I don’t like being tagged in other people’s pictures, either – or having someone post something nonsensical (like advertising) on my wall. I don’t spend much time on Facebook, but when I do, I want it to be quality time, not time-waster time. 😉
I really don’t have a lot of time for Facebook it seems these days.
Have a great Friday!
I don’t like being tagged in photos that I wouldn’t post. Such as things with profanity etc.
Please no farm invites.
Aloha!
My rule/etiquette would be – Be a REAL friend and foster RESPECT!
I have blocked app requests before and I continue to do that for each and every app requests. If you are a REAL friend, you’d visit my FB wall and find out and know that I really am not into that. And a REAL FRIEND respects that and stops the invites and the requests for all these apps … Now thinking about this, I think I’d start blocking people, too, not just apps, those who continue to send these requests and invites. It’s really annoying!
I have disabled people from posting on my wall and from tagging me. If there is a way to disable tagging me in photos, I would have done that already. I find that some of ‘friends’ in Facebook do not really care about what they do on Facebook with the kinds of postings they do on their own wall. How can I assume that they will respect my wall, hence I disable a lot of stuffs …
It’s easy to blOck games, requests, and wall posts. In defense of game people: its easier to just click quickly through than to specifically not click non players. I just assume that if someone doEsnt want to play that they have itblocked. It doesn’t mean I don’t respect you or Im not a real friend. Just keep that in mind
I use to play the games and (while I don’t pay attention to game requests they don’t bother me) but they give you two lists gamers and everyone to send them too. People are too lazy to click over to the people already playing the game and just send to the everyone list.
It’s true and I not only go to that list but I use the recently played lists. But sometimes fb likes to mess around. I’m just saying don’t assume everyone is trying to bug you to join them. Usually they respect who plays and who doesnt
I’ve just started blogging, FB, and tweeting, so by reading these answers I see I have a lot to learn, but I’m so glad you asked this question so I know not to step on anyone’s toes with this stuff. Have a great weekend.
The ones that really bug me sometimes are the hearts, angels, toys, and the ones where you almost feel obligated to return. That’s fine. You like me I appreciate it, and so does Joe, Mary, Tim, Carol, Jane etc. etc. etc. now they sent me one, so I have to send back, and the next day you have to do it again, but this time Carol sends you one, and then Annie sent you one, and Sarah and Jean so now you have to send three more out, and every day more and more. One more You’ve been POKED! Okay that’s nice poke me, and I’ll poke you THAT’S IT POKING IS OVER – HELLO? POKE – POKE – POKING IS OVER PLEASE DON’T LET IT GO ON AND ON AND ON FOR A MONTH FOR PITY SAKES!
LOL, I agree with them all. No poking, no answering question about me. No adding to photos, no game requests.
This is not just a pet peeve about Facebook, but on forums too… If you are going to comment on the weather or a favorite restaurant, local event, etc., then Please tell me where you live! I have knitting friends, beading friends, friends with Fibromyalgia, etc. and I don’t know where everyone lives. Lots of people just assume that everybody knows, so when they say “Going to dinner at Joe’s, it’s really good” or “Wow, I am freezing, the snow is really coming down!” I start trying to figure out what part of the country they are in. Maybe it’s a minor thing, but it bugs me.
Okay, I’m off my soapbox now…

I hate the picture tag thing too and the farmville stuff. I also hate the questions. and for my blog page I HATE when I have people unlike for no reason.. I have gotten to and fallen below 1000 fans so many times, if only I can stay above I woudl be happy.
