The Cookbook Cabinet

This past weekend we did nothing. Really. The only time I left the house was to run to Walmart. It was nice. Even though we stayed home we had lots of fun. Friday night my niece slept over. We made Wilton Bunny Pops for snack and then spent the night playing Just Dance on the Wii so we could stuff ourselves pizza when Dad came home.

Is it just me or does it look like Family Circle forgets to “dress” their magazines? At first I thought it was an error but they kept coming in that way.

Speaking of cooking magazines…

I am a sucker for those little recipe card magazines in the checkout isles. As in if they are there I buy them. I can’t say no to them. Some of them don’t even interest me but just in case I missed a good one while quickly scanning I still get it. Then I come home and search the pages and add little post it stickers to the recipes I want to try. They then go into my ‘cookbook cabinet’ never to be seen again. Seriously.

Until this weekend. I was bored and wanted something new for dinner. I grabbed a handful of them out and let Johnny pick one. Of course he went with the Velveeta cookbook. Surprisingly I only had one tab on this one so I made it. It was good and I’ll be sharing it tomorrow.

While going through the rest of the cookbooks to see if there were any good ones I missed I looked out the window to this:

It just warmed my heart.  Daddy got down and ‘designed a hotel’ with chalk with Gavin in the driveway.

How was your weekend?

It sounds like you had a wonderfully relaxing day at home with your family 🙂

Sounds like my kind of weekend. Sometime doing nothing allows more quality time with the kiddos.
