When we started rebuilding our home a few years ago one thing that we constantly got stuck on was flooring. We knew we wanted hardwood flooring in almost the entire house and tiles in the bathrooms and kitchen. The wall to wall carpeting in the bedrooms was easy. The tough part. The carpets throughout the house that were more for decor. We went from place to place looking for different style rugs but no one had a good selection. It seemed that many of them had a good amount but they tried to cover so many colors and styles that it was hard to find exactly what you were looking for. We use to be really modern and stick to black, white, and bold colors. A year before the fire we had made over our bathroom. Completely gutted it and replaced it all. It was light wood. In the time we lost our home and rebuilt our style had changed. We liked dark wood and had a chance to change our style. Problem? Our modern look didn’t work as well with the classic look we had made our home.
Playing it safe while we grew to learn what colors and styles we liked we stuck with a lot of neutral colors. Finding a rug that fit us was still hard. We wanted modern rugs while still keeping our neutral colors. Now that it has been a couple years and I look around our home I realize that while I paused to decorate our home I never started.
Lately I’ve been spending a lot of time organizing areas and going through our things to get things in order. Once things are clean and in order I really want to take the time to start decorating. I’ve noticed over the years that sage green is a big favorite of Hubby and I. I really want to find a way to bring it out in our home.
That’s gorgeous! Sadly I’m dreadful at decorating, but wish I could be one of those women who everything they own matches and looks fabulous!
I actually agree that it’s optimal to stick to neutral colors when it comes to carpet selection. I tried bright contrasting patterns a while back and soon enough I realized that though they do give your room a refreshing look, they are not something you can rest your eyes on. Green should be a good choice, it’s considered to be the color that helps you relax.
