Reaching Your Goals One Week At A Time

I’ll be honest I regularly take on far more then I can chew. I’ve been trying my best to figure out a new way to balance everything I want and need to do. While the timing is great for making a it a New Year’s Resolution its more of I lost my job and have time on my hands finally. So to be the most productive until I find a new job I’ve decided to do one main project a day. I’ve been tossing around the idea to make it a weekly post. Every Monday morning I post and we list 5 main things we want to do each week and the following week when we list our new goals we state if we made our old ones. I can easily tell you the 95 things I want to do over the next year but that’s too much time and I’ll put it off and then eventually not do it. So I thought by making a weekly to do list it and posting it might make me slightly more accountable.

What do you think? Do you like the idea? If there are enough of you interested I’ll put up a linky so you can share your posts.

Here is my week’s plan:

Monday: Take down Christmas Tree and pack up all Christmas decor. Return boxes to basement (done)
Tuesday: Completely clean living room and dining room. This means moving all furniture, wiping down wood fixtures, glass, furniture etc.
Wednesday: Clean out fridge & freezer. Remove all expired foods. Wash all removable fixtures and wipe down the rest. Go through food cabinets and finish checking expired food there too. Vacuum drawers and wipe down cabinets.
Thursday: Clean & Sanitize bathrooms. Clean Laundry Room. Wipe down wood fixtures, wash floors, etc.
Friday: Vacuum, Mop, and pick up entire first floor. Don’t let areas cleaned get dirty! Clean ALL windows.
Week Long Goal: Put coupon binder together.

Yikes, seeing it in writing makes me overwhelmed already! I guess I’m off to start my living room…

  1. See, I was seeing a tiny sliver of hope until I read Friday. “Don’t let areas cleaned get dirty!”
That is my downfall. I can clean as I go as much as I try, and still things get dirty. Surfaces get cluttered up.

I am sorry for your reason to have more time available and wish you the best in that respect.
You will be amazed at how quickly that “extra” time gets used up.

I started cleaning for the past holidays during October and am continuing as long as I have motivation (and am indoors more with colder temperatures.) I hope I am able to share some progress on my blog. I have not been brave and upfront about the worst of my “projects.” I think your idea of one project a day is a great idea but if something takes longer than a day I hope you are kind to yourself. The idea is to stick with it from start to finish.

    Good luck!

I think this is a great idea! I am more likely to get things done if I have “goals” written down for the week.

Great idea! I have several things I need to work on as well. I did get the hall closet straightened today to make room for my new sheets!

Boy you are one busy lady!
Now you inspired me to get to cleaning. Sometimes it is hard to stay on top of all the cleaning.

You know, I’ve been starting to make to do lists everyday and it’s AMAZING how that little list can make me feel SO good about my day.

Seriously, I’d recommend it to anybody!!

Good luck with your weekly goals xD
