PLEASE PLEASE be safe and don’t get behind the wheel if you’ve been drinking.
I hope everyone has a great New Year’s Eve tonight! I know around here there are many events going on. Hopefully the 6 inches of snow that is falling doesn’t interrupt any one’s plans! Since we have had the boys our New Year’s Eve plans have changed quite a bit. We usually go bowling get chinese food with my hubby’s family and then return home just before midnight (to avoid the drivers). Please be responsible if you plan on drinking tonight…..and if you need a reminder on why….
Here is a senseless tragedy that happened last year…
This accident is the result of a drunk driver, Michael Gagnon, 24, got so wasted he decided to go on a driving spree. He drove the wrong way on a major highway at 3x the legal alcohol level after celebrating a New Year Eve event.
The result….
5 DEATHS. None of which were his.
Bethany Griffin, 36; her three daughters, Haley Burkman, 10, Lacie Burkman, 7, and Vadi Griffin, 8 weeks; and her step- daughter, Jordan Griffin, 10. Sidney Griffin and Beau Burkman, both then 8, survived. However, Sidney from what I’ve read has physical issues that she may never recover from. Her, her brother, and their father will emotional issues that none will recover from.
Michael Gagnon, he got 43 years in prison. Sadly he is fighting it in court stating his sentence is TOO stiff. 8 years per life doesn’t sound stiff enough too me!
PLEASE, PLEASE DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE.
Call a cab, call a friend!
Many areas even offer free cabs on New Years Eve!
What a heartbreaking reminder. Thanks for sharing. Stopping in from Twitter!
I hope you have a safe and happy new year!
That is just terrible! How can the guy say his sentence is too stiff? He killed 5 people! That poor family 🙁
