As many of you know early Monday morning someone was able to break through my site and get access. As a result they encrypted all my files. Since I don’t have much knowledge of HTML all I can tell you was it was SO bad that once Kat cleaned it the first time ending at 1am we woke up the next day to find it had reseeded itself back into all my files. I had tried getting help from Go Daddy my hoster but got no where. In fact they told me it wasn’t their problem. So Kat offered to move me over to Hostgator and I am now running my hosting through her. If I ever have a problem in the future she will automatically take care of it.
A big problem was that it would continue to infect my site as she would continue to clean it. In the end they had to complete rebuild my site before she moved me over because they were concerned that if they didn’t the problem would infect all her other accounts. So Jessica began the process of building my site from scratch all over again on a new host. Kat took my site off of Go Daddy and now everything is good to go. I have to tell you the past three days have been a complete nightmare. Day one I was really scared and upset. Yesterday I had to work all day and had to do my best to block it out. Today though, today, I was livid. I was mad. I was overwhelmed and frustrated. Seriously, what did that person gain from making my life a complete and total hell over the past three days.
First I want to take a minute to thank both Kat Robertson and Jess of iDesign who have spent the last three days cleaning my site and helping me with the process. This entire thing has really made me understand what it means to have good people behind you. I don’t just mean good people as in good at what they do but good people that understand what hell this is and do what it takes to fix the problem even if it means an entire rebuild of a site.
Next I want to thank all of my readers. Thank you for informing me there was a problem. It was a readers facebook post that tipped me off as my site began to shut down on the admin side of things. It was my readers that calmed me down when I wanted nothing more but to scream and pound my head against a wall. It was my readers that made me smile the moment things were fixed as I watched my statcounter began to jump back up again.

Now, because of this whole issue there have been some problems in other areas. This virus attacked my feeds. This means that THREE THOUSAND readers got knocked off my reader. Jess swears there is a way to get you back and we’re looking into it right now but just in case please resubmit your email for your subscription. Also, while sitting in my reader I saw there were hundreds of you who signed up and never confirmed your subscriptions. I will now be better looking into WHO is truly getting EMAIL scripts.

Congrats on getting your site back up and running. I wish the hackers would move on to something productive. They seem to have the brains for it. Now we just need to get their ethics to catch up.

I have been so distracted the last few days I didn’t even realize that this had happened!! It makes no sense why someone would do something like this. It had to have been so intentional. I’m just shaking my head in wonder. I’m so thankful that you have some amazing people that worked with you so diligently to get your site up and running again. I am so sorry you had to deal with this! May whoever did this have it come back to bite them in their hind end!

This happened to me with Eblogger this summer. My Apel blog got tampered with. Someone tried to clone it. They didn’t know who the original creator was. Blogger closed my whole account down, but to debug it. They took care of it for me. I was back up in a day. I was so scared that I’d never get my 4 blogs back!

That sucks! You are the second blogger that I visit regularly that had THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM with the same exact host. I will never use them either.
