Lift Top Coffee Tables? Okay With Kids?

After our house burnt down I was so depressed, but it also let me have the shopping spree of a lifetime once we had finally rebuilt. We needed new everything. We were starting over from scratch and needed everything. Since we had to live with our in-laws for months until we could even get out feet back under us we had plenty of time to look around at what it was we really wanted.
One thing I was super excited about getting was new furniture. Since we broke up after Johnny’s birth we both had our own places for 2 years until we found our way back to each other. We were young and ended up with a lot of mismatched pieces.

There was one piece of furniture that really tripped us up. The coffee table. We really like the idea of the Lift Top’s but I was so nervous of it closing with one of my child’s heads in it. Gavin was still under a year and I knew I had a lot of falls ahead of me. The functionality of having a table that came up to you in the living room while you watched TV was so appealing though. Do you have one of these?

We even debated not getting one.In the end we found some really cute end tables that we loved and they came with a sofa table and coffee table so we got the whole set which didn’t include the option of a lift top.
