Evenflo Home Safety Contest ($2500!) and Home Décor Stair™ Gate Review & Giveaway! {Ended}

Evenflo is a company I’ve shared with you in the past. A company I’ve trusted both my children to. They have quality made products that will last not only the entire time frame your child will need them but for years to come as well. I’ve purchased many products from Evenflo in the past as they carry everything from breast pumps and highchairs to infant car seats to booster seats. Plus, they carry travel systems which are many mom’s pick when it comes to first strollers!
Evenflo recently let me know about a contest they were hosting along with Alison Rhodes aka The Safety Mom. Evenflo already lets you know about special updates, tips, and monthly contests by signing up for their newsletter. Right now though they teamed up and have a Home Safety Makeover Contest where the winner will receive $2500 of home safety features from Evenflo and other companies!! If you don’t win that contest FIVE runner ups will receive the Symphony65™ featuring SureLatch® All-In-One Car Seat valued at $199.99!!! This is an amazing car seat!
Just head on over and enter the Home Safety Makeover Contest and let them know how your family could benefit from getting the makeover. Just a few sentences will do!
Plus, they shared these tips with us now:

  • Always anticipate the unexpected, and stay one step ahead of your little ones. Armed with pad and pencil, get down on your hands and knees, and record all the potential hazards you see from a child’s-eye view.
  • Consider children’s ages and developmental stages. Baby proofing is not a project you can do once and forget about it. Be vigilant; continuously monitor your baby’s developmental stages.
  • Gates can provide safety zones within your home where you can keep a closer eye on baby, while helping to prevent him or her from wandering into harm’s way.

The Home Safety Makeover Contest ends Jan 15, 2010 so hurry!

In order to help my home become more safe I was given a the Evenflo Home Décor Stair™ Gate to review and make my home safer. When I went over to the Evenflo site to see which gate would best fit my home I was really impressed with all the options and styles they carried. They had different sizes and different styles that you could use for all different locations around your home. They have a gate for every need! I really like the Crosstown Soft & Wide Pressure Mount Gate for areas like my wide doorway that separates my dining room and living room. When Gavin was crawling this would have come in SO helpful! I did use their Memory Fit™ Pressure Mount Gate when he was little though! We were renting while while we waited for our house to be finished after the fire and weren’t able to drill holes into the walls for gates and this gate was great! Is stayed in size allowing us to grab it and bring it to different rooms without resizing it each time.
I ended up choosing the Home Décor Stair™ Gate because we have a solid oak flight of stairs right outside Gavin’s bedroom door. It has always worried me. I fear someday he’ll come out of his room in the middle of the night and he’ll fall. However, my hubby was very against screwing any gates into the walls as our home is new. Plus, he didn’t want just any old gate there since our staircase really is a nice looking staircase. When I saw the Home Décor Stair™ Gate in the Harvest Oak stain I knew it was a perfect match! If your a natural light wood person they have you covered as they also offer this gate in Natural Oak.

When I had told hubby about it he didn’t think the quality could possibly compare to our solid oak staircase and I was worried to as the gate is less then $100 and when I first researched gates that were wood with style they were at least twice that price. Then it came. The quality and the style were there! I was so impressed! I also thought it would take forever to install and it didn’t. I think from the moment we took it out to the moment it was completely done was about 20 minutes and its been awhile since we played with a baby gate. I liked that it could be set to either swing both ways or just one. We have it set to only open one way since its on the top of our stairs. It also has one simple latch to open it. Gavin can even open it. This is fine by us because he’ll be 4 in July so he’s more then able to do the stairs but at least now I know he has to be thinking about the stairs before he heads down them.

Features:

  • Classic design complements any home decor
  • One-hand latch release offers added convenience
