We were given the opportunity to review their Morphibians Gator Remote Control Toy. I was instantly drawn to its promise of “Drive me anywhere: dirt, grass, pond, pool“. Of course having boys means getting dirty. If your toys can’t get dirty with you what kind of fun is that? Gavin has never really had a remote control toy before although Johnny has had his fair share. He’s had cheap ones and expensive ones and many times they can’t live up to our gravel driveway and grassy backyard. What fun is an RC toy if the only place you can use it is on a paved driveway?
So when it arrived the boys immediately dragged me outside. The remote takes 2 AAA batteries and the car 3 AA batteries. I was more surprised that I had both kinds of batteries on hand like that. Johnny went to place the car on the garage floor and I said no way…take it to the ground. Gavin took the remote and Johnny placed it on the gravel and off it went! It has real headlights which the boys thought were really cool. They drove it down to the quad trails in the back and took it for a spin. It struggled a bit on the trails but I don’t think it was meant for the full forest experience. We didn’t have any real water to give it a “floating” test but I’m sure after how well it did it would be fine.
Overall, I was impressed with the strength this lower cost RC car offered. My only gift giving suggestion is make sure you have all those batteries on hand. I could hear the fit my boys were about to have when I feared I didn’t have both kinds.
