Shred Sled – The Coolest Board on the Streets! Review & Giveaway! {CLOSED}

One thing my 8 year old son doesn’t like doing is sitting indoors. He likes to get out and be active. He likes things that provide a bit of a challenge and things that he can pursue further as times goes along.

The Shred Sled is like the combination of skateboarding and snowboarding in one! Its cooler then your typical 2 wheel boards because its not only smoother and easier but because it provides more control to its user. The Shred Sled has 4- 80mm polyurethane wheels and ABEC-5 bearings that are stronger and smoother and less likely to need replacing- unlike its competitors models.

Here are some basic tips on riding the Shred Sled:

  1. As a beginner, it will be helpful to start riding the board using a wall as a support.
  2. Lay the Shred Sled down beside and parallel to the wall.
  3. Put your foot (left or right depending on your preference) right center of the sand paper on the fore plate perpendicular to the board direction, and then put the other foot on the rear plate in similar location and direction.
  4. Balancing your body (with two hands on the wall), make the board flat so that the board is standing on two wheels and the sides of the board are not touching the ground.
  5. Once the board is moving, twist your hip and both legs to create forward movement.
  6. When you get used to the movement of body to propel the board, you may try the turns and other interesting tricks.
When the Shred Sled arrived for our review my son immediately ripped into the box it came in he was beyond excited. He grabbed it out inspected that it had 4 wheels versus the 2 he had expected. He attempted to get on and immediately fell off. He then decided it would be best to get some support of Dad and/or the wall.

The first few tries he was completely frustrated. He couldn’t figure out what he was doing wrong. We left for Maine the day after we got it. We saw tons of kids with similar boards and noticed how they were “wiggling” the back piece to propel it forward. So when we got back home we decided to give that a try. Sure enough it worked. Since we have a rocky driveway and our street is slightly sloped (for a beginner) we took him for a walk up the street. Here he is after just a few days on the Shred Sled:

As you can see he was still a little shaky at the beginning however he could get on, ride, and get off independently. Now he’s a pro and weaves through our large garage with no problems. He can even go around things as our 3 year old leaves his “projects” laying around.
Of course he saw this video of it on the Shred Sled website and says he’ll be doing these stunts soon:

I told him take it one day at a time. We’ve already had to spend a month in the Surgical ICU at Boston Children’s due to his two left feet!

You can get your own Shred Sled in red, black, or blue for just $119.99!
Make sure to grab a helmet while you’re at it for just $24.99!
Shred Sled strongly recommends the use of this product to be used for kids ages 8 and up.
