Don’t visit 1st Advantage Dental!

I’m cranky right now. I’d probably chose a different adjective but for the sake of my readers we will go with cranky.

So, first thing. Turns out my son missed a dentist appoint yesterday. I came home to a call stating that we missed an appointment and if I could call them and let them know why it would be appreciated. Um, why? Maybe because you never gave me a reminder call! However, even if you had it really isn’t your business so why are you asking! I’ve had it with my kids dentist. I need to find them a new one.

Supposedly this is Johnny’s 2nd cavity, and we’ve gone there for 3 regular 6 month visits. Our insurance changed so we had to change him 18 months ago. Well, do you know I’ve never spoken with the dentist? When I ask I’m told he’s busy! I think if he is seeing my child and asking me to pay $200+ for a filling…oh and not just any filling. He doesn’t believe in silver caps. He likes these fancy white things that cost 2x the amount. (oh , and because I can’t speak to the dentist….I later learn this is a baby tooth we filled- lovely). Yet he won’t see or speak to me?

Back in November I got billed $25 from them. Since I always pay in full I called and asked what the bill was in reference to and was told I should contact my insurance. I told them I needed a date in order to do that. They told me they would research it and get back to me. I made this call again in February and got the same response. April I get a collections bill and I call and yet again get the same thing. May rolls around I’m at work and they call me. They tell me if I don’t pay the $25 they will send me to collection in 7 days and my child won’t be welcome for his appointment the following week! Excuse me? I explain to her what went on and she continues to talk down to me like I’m some bottom barrel scum who owes them thousands, when in reality its $25. I demand to talk to someone else. She tells me there is no one else. I hang up. Call back…Hi I have a serious issue (explain) Sorry she is the person you’d need to talk too. I again explain that she is rude and I want her supervisor. I’m told she doesn’t have one. I demand the dentist. He’s too busy. Hang up. Tammy then calls me leaves a message because I refuse to answer and states she will graciously do ME the favor of researching it. Bite me.

2 days later.
Voicemail: “I’m sorry Jennifer, we accidentally billed you an additional $25 and that’s why your insurance didn’t cover it. Good thing we took the time to research it for you and get this cleared up. See Johnny next week.” What? You did me a favor of billing me extra money and want a pat on the back for fixing it. Kiss this.

May visit. Day before reminder call. Appointment Fri 4pm
Get there. We don’t understand why you are here at 4 ma’am (I’m in my 20’s aren’t I still a misses?) your appointment is at 4:45pm. Well you guys told me 4 and I’m here with my toddler please see him as soon as possible. 4:55 Johnny we can see you now. 5:35pm Johnny has his 2nd cavity and we’d like to schedule the really expensive filling. I ask to go over it with the dentist. While truthfully I did want to discuss the cavity I really wanted to discuss the whole $25 and I don’t have a supervisor situation. Sorry the dentist can’t see you. Goodbye.

Our past dentist went over everything with us. Especially since when johnny was 4 he spent a month at Boston Children’s in the surgical ICU after breaking his jaw in 3 places and needed his jaw wired shut.

WTH? I need a new dentist.
