I am head over heels for the whole Mason Jar trend. I love using them for anything and everything but my new favorite are these DIY Painted Mason Jar Flower Vases I made! I found them on the Oriental Trading site and loved them immediately!
Making them are super easy and the supplies are minimal.
Supplies Needed:
- Pint Mason Jars
- Martha Stewart Craft Paints
- Satin Ribbon
- Paper Cups
- Sponge Paint Brushes
- Flowers
There are so many different colors to pick from with the Martha Stewart paints but one of my favorites is the gold. In the end I painted 5 different colors and these were the ones I chose. As usual I put my kids to work. Sawyer had a blast painting them with me.
When you paint them you can decide if you want to stop at the neck or paint all the way up. If you check the Wedding Painted Mason Jars Idea on the Oriental Trading site you’ll see that they painted all the way up.
When you paint them make sure you paint the OUTSIDE of the jar. This way when you add the water it doesn’t affect the paint or the flowers. When I started I blotted the areas with the writing and then once all the areas were filled I did long straight brush strokes to finish it. If your paint starts to brush off when you are painting stop immediately and let fully dry and then paint again. Paint two coats. Let dry completely.
Next cut a long piece of your ribbon. Knot it as close to the jar as possible and then make a bow. Snip the ribbon ends. Fill with water and add flowers.
You can see how after the ribbon the focus goes right to the flowers. For these I just love how they look when they are done. These would make great centerpieces for any baby shower or wedding shower.
How pretty are these? I love how they look and I’ve scattered them all over my house!!
