Who are you?We are Jen and Michele, two sisters from New York who are crazy about accessories. We both also happen to be working moms who have a burning desire to create. Since our day jobs weren’t really giving us the opportunity as much as we would have like, we bought a book of techniques and started teaching ourselves how to make jewelry.
How long have you been selling on Etsy?
Our first pieces were listed on May 13, 2009. We’re newbies!

What made you decide to open up shop?We decided to open up shop so that our pieces would be available to a wider audience. Prior to opening an etsy shop, we had solely sold our pieces to friends. On top of that, we’re HUGE fans of etsy!!!

How did you decide on your shop name?Our shop name comes from our kids. It’s a combination of nicknames they have given us. Jack couldn’t say “Jen” so he called his aunt “Nen” and Samantha decided that her Aunt Michele’s name should be shortened to “Mimi”. We combined the two and got Nimi. 🙂

What is your favorite item in your shop and why?Tough question!!! Everything that we design is something that we would wear ourselves. Right now, I think my favorite is the Island Breeze bracelet. It’s colors and the shells make it a perfect pick for summer!

What are some of your favorite stores from other sellers on Etsy?I love, love, love the jewelry at The Gem Shoppe. It’s gorgeous, delicate and different. I also like the hair pieces at Untamed Petals. They’re really pretty and vintage inspired and a lot of them have that bohemian flair that I adore. I also bought a veil for my wedding at etsy.com/tessakim and a clutch at etsy.com/yensew that I adore!
