So glad to be starting a new week and putting last week to rest. My kiddos have been sick. My oldest has a sore throat and an off and on belly ache. My baby has been through complete hell. Back and forth to the Dr. ‘s office, hospital for Xrays. He’s now on a portable Nebulizer machine, 2 new inhalers, 2 other medicines….ugh.
Let me tell you how annoyed I am with his doctor’s office. Wednesday (my only day off) I schedule a sick appointment at 10:30am for us to go at 11:15am. We get there and the waiting room is packed. I realize we will be waiting awhile. I am confused why they gave me an 11:15am appointment when they obviously knew they were really backed up. So now I am sitting there with a sick 2 year old in a crowded Dr’s office.
At 12:20pm my boy’s name is finally called. Yay! I am thinking….no too early I am only seeing the medical assistant who takes his temp and tells us she will put his chart in the box for the next available Dr. since his pediatrician isn’t working that day.
We wait another 20 mins. A nurse pops her head in to tell me the Dr. I have been waiting for is now unavailable and she will be putting his chart in yet another Dr.’s box… At this point I am annoyed I got there for a little before 11:15 am and it is now roughly 12:45pm and we haven’t even seen a Dr. I ask her ‘Do you know how long this is going to take? I have been waiting a really long time and I have a sick 2 year who hasn’t eaten lunch and is now going into nap time?’ her response ‘Ya know you aren’t the only one having a bad day here, you should be the patient. I have been dealing with this all morning!’ I hit the roof!
When the Nurse Practitioner walked in at 1:10pm and told me I wasn’t able to see a Dr. period and he would be seeing her (a woman I have never once met before) I lost it and told her how unprofessional this office was. I told her it wasn’t in any way directed at her but I expected more from a pediatrician’s office.
Why is it that if I walk into a Dr.’s office 15 minutes late they have the right to not only charge me my copay but also REFUSE service….yet when we show up on time to our appointments we are expected to wait outrageous times and expected to be patient and keep our mouths shut?!?! Had I walked in there at 1:15pm and asked to be seen for my 11:15am appointment they would have laughed me right out the door!
Also don’t forget I am doing a giveaway of this book on Wednesday! To enter click here and scroll to the bottom 🙂

Since both babies were sick just two weeks ago, I understand. My son did like the breathing treatments so that helped while they recovered.

No matter how sick other babies are the office needs to treat its CUSTOMERS better! I am big on naps and sometimes I feel that others do not understand how the kids are going to act when they do not eat or sleep! Hopefully, the kids and the situation will be better.

I will be thinking of you.

Holy Smokes! That is soooo ridiculous. Im glad you told them how ridiculous and unproffesional the whole situation was. I would be fumming mad too. Your poor little guy, I bet he was having the hardest time waiting. Its hard to wait that long even when your not sick, but as sick as the poor kiddo is I bet it was TERRIBLE! I hope you have a better week this week and your little guys start feeling better.

I LOVE that book. I wish I had the crafty skills(and time) to make cute creations like that. Your amazing!

Awe I hope your babies are feeling better. We’ve all been sick here too for the past week. We were told the doctor wasnt an option for us as they had no more appointments. We ended up in the ER twice, and was there for atleast 7 hours each time. UGH! I’m right with you, hoping for a better week this week.
