I can’t believe I’ve had my Whirlpool Duet Front Loading Washer & Dryer for just over a year now. What a difference it has made in my washing routine. This isn’t the first front loading set I’ve owned but it is the first one I’m now telling people no way, no how on. See my first set was horrible and a year later my clothes were coming out so yucky smelling and cleaning the drum didn’t help at all but with my Duets I’m not having that problem at all. In fact a year later I’m not having any of the issues I had with my other set a year in.
My Whirlpool Duet Front Loading Washer & Dryer:
The set hasn’t just saved me time but money too. Reasons this set has simplified my life:
Bigger Drum
While the time span of a load isn’t much faster the drum size is. So in the basic one hour time frame it takes me to wash clothing I’m getting much more clothes in. More clothes in means less overall loads.
Washing large blankets and comforters at home means no trips to the laundry mats. Everything I need to wash conveniently fits in my own clean washer that I can use in the comfort of my own home. No quarters, sitting around babysitting your load, and no wondering what was in the previous load.
Precision Dispense
My most loved feature of this washer. I swear I’ve used 1/3 of the amount of detergent I used the previous year. This saves me lots of money alone. Not to mention I love not having to deal with the detergent every single time. Now if the fabric softner could do the same thing I’d be in heaven.
Multiple Set Loads
This washer has so many preset settings that I can quickly just set the washer exactly the way I want it and be done. Not only that but I can even permanently set my own custom loads if they don’t have it already.
Some of my favorite Settings:
- Allergen- my husband has allergies and this is great for our comforter and mattress pads.
- Quick Wash- leaving on vacation and just realized your favorite outfit is in the dirty pile? Toss it in and have it done in half the amount of time.
- Pillows- Back to the allergies this helps hubby so much. Plus, our pillows come out so fluffy every time.
Then, if you know you aren’t going to be able to get right to your laundry at the end make sure to set it to the Keep Fresh mode and it will move your clothing around so you don’t have to run it through a whole rinse cycle all over again. You can also set it to delay if you’re leaving and want it ready when you get back or get up. I don’t like falling asleep or leaving the house with my appliances on so this is a great feature.
Things we do as a family before and afterwards to keep laundry going.
Sorting- We all have a basket in the laundry room. We make sure all our clothing is right side out and ready and sorted. When we’re done wearing our jeans we put them in the jeans basket and then when the basket is on the full side I now it’s time to wash them and they are all ready and if I’m low on time I don’t have to worry about a missing pair, items in pockets, or a leg inside out.
Keeping Stock- the drawers underneath are so helpful. At a quick glance I can tell what I have and what I need. Not just that but everyone can access them should someone someday decide to help with it. (I can dream, right?)
I love owning the Whirlpool Duet Front Loading Washer & Dryer. They have totally changed my outlook on front loaders and couldn’t imagine not having them. They save me time, money, and aggravation. I’m so glad I have my Duets!
I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Whirlpool and received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
I would LOVE to get a set like that!!! What you could do about your fabric softener though…get the Downy Ball. 🙂 I got that and it works great. I still don’t get how it knows when to open and release the softener, but it’s awesome! I’m glad your set is still working too. I remember the problems you had with your other ones 🙁
I’m so glad to see a follow up post. Ya’ know, when something is all shiny and new and working GREAT, then we all want to jump aboard. But for me, I make a large purchase decision like this VERY carefully. It’s great to see you so happy with the Duet a year after and the “shiny new novelty” has not worn off. I know I’d love the auto dispense, the HUGE capacity with a family of 6, one being a baby, and the storage drawers…all would be like heaven to me. We are going on 14 years of ours and we have kicked their butts to oblivion. I am so in the market but still saving to buy. I so appreciate the honesty of the bloggers who had the privilege to try these out and tell us all about them!
I love my Whirlpool Duet washer and Dryer too! I don’t use the drawers on the bottom as much as I should… I guess i better get working on that to make life easier too. 🙂
What a difference a day would make! Girl you are so lucky! I was just telling the hubby that our Washing Machine (which I bought used in 1993) has really served us well, BUT… it now has a new noise, and it’s a bit loud, but not too bad yet, and it’s starting today with an odor. Lord please keep my washing machine going until after the holidays. I use it quite a bit being as hubby is a truck driver, and delivers auto parts. That’s twice the dirt, grease and grime. Then there’s my kids saying, “Hi Mom, coming to see you. Do you mind if we do a couple of loads of laundry and it turns out to be “7”. (my son). Sheesh! I would give anything so have such a beautiful pair of cleaning machines in my basement I think I’d sit there, and watch them like my television set or even a home movie. Mine is Whirlpool too! Great brand, but they’ve come a long way! Fabulous. I’m sooooooooo jealous.
