The Charge: Activating the 10 Human Drives that Make you Feel Alive by Brendon Burchard #ChargedLife

I’ll be honest I’m not usually the type to read a self help book and had the awesome people over at BlogFrog not asked me to read it I probably wouldn’t have but I’m glad I did. This book was really motivating but it really helped because it broke everything down in your life and dissected it in a way that built you rather then knocking you down. It caught my attention right in the very beginning with the line “…simply choose to climb out of the half-lit mediocrity of an unengaged and unfulfilling existence.” Why? Because for months- maybe even years- this is how I’ve been feeling.

Over the years who I was has slowly been pushed aside and I’ve forgotten who I was and what I wanted. I’ve married, had babies, gained weight. I’ve dropped out of college, given up dreams and amazing opportunities. I’ve lost friends, lost connection, and hid myself away. It’s left me feeling alone, isolated, and miserable. Instead of finding ways to improve and fix those issues in my life I got lost in blogging. The online world where I got to start over and be known for my failures, my limitations, and my inabilities.

That’s where The Charge: Activating the 10 Human Drives that Make you Feel Alive by Brendon Burchard comes in. It explained to me how I have let myself fall into the category of the caged life. How by wanting everyone else to be happy around me I’ve given up everything that has made me happy. How I’ve pushed myself into an imprisoned, obedient life and the reason I’ve become so miserable and restless over the past year is because I’ve finally reached the point of wanting out of the cage.

The problem? I didn’t know how to get out. The feeling of being confined and stuck has been bothering me more then the path I was traveling. The Charge is about finding your way out of the Caged or Comfortable life and how to start living a more charged life.It will help you tackle different areas of your life and look at them from other angles and really help you make a happier and more successful life for yourself.

For me it’s really helped me put things in perspective on the places I put my time. I wanted certain things but I was always making excuses. I even had excuses for some of my excuses- how ridiculous is that? Right now I’m really trying to focus on myself and the things I want to accomplish both short term and long term.

Sounds like a good book. I definitely think it’s important to step outside of what you feel is comfortable.
