Waffles. I was never big on them growing up. I was always a pancakes kinda gal. A few years ago we went away on a family vacation and they had one of those waffle makers there and the kids and husband were in heaven. When I came home I forgot all about it until I went over my Dad’s one day and saw a similar looking waffle maker sitting on his counter.
Of course I oohhh’d and awww’d over it and was thrilled when a few short months later I received it for Christmas. The boys in this family were thrilled. We first made the waffles plain but the kids wanted m&m’s and the hubby wanted chocolate chips. I thought no problem. I can do that, but I couldn’t. All the candy and fruit would stick to the maker even though I sprayed. I would sit there forever trying to clean it. Of course you can’t place a waffle maker in the sink so it’s a time consuming thing. I stopped using candy and fruit immediately. However, it was just a pain every.single.time I used it. Even though it was pricey and even though it was a gift I found itself in the trash six months later and I had some very sad boys.
Then I had the chance to check out all the products Kitchenaid had at the Chicago Housewares Show back in MArch and I just fell in love with their Pro Line® Series Waffle Baker. Finding a waffle baker was my mission that day as I went from booth to booth of all the competing brands. It was a great opportunity to compare them all and get all the facts.
The specially designed double-sided baking unit rotates to allow the batter to coat both upper and lower waffle plates, producing two golden Grand Belgian waffles.

In the end my top pick was the Kitchenaid Pro Line® Series Waffle Baker. While it was a lot bigger and heavier then some of the other brands it was by far the fit for my family. I was so excited when it arrived. See one of the best features is that while you still get the fun flipping feature (which is a must!) you can also make TWO waffles at the same time. Now I can finally eat WITH my family not serve them and then eat along.
The front of the waffle baker is attractive with its black and stainless appearance. There is a handle for each side of the baker and then you have the programmable area.
When you plug it in and turn it on you have a temperature gage at the top that will let you know when it’s ready.
Here is where you turn it on. The power button obviously turns it on and off and the timer is controlled with the knob. We don’t like browned waffles so it only took a couple minutes. We didn’t use the timer but if you were making multiple things at once this is great so you remember to come right back to it.
See how evenly this baked and how clean came off when opened? Love it. I do recommend spraying it down before placing the batter in. These waffles took about 2x the batter my old maker took but it cooked it no problem and was easy. It didn’t drip anywhere or make a mess when it was flipped and was so easy to take one out and immediately put new batter in. Not once was I slowed down.
Here is how Johnny decided to eat his waffle. Looks delish doesn’t it?
While the Kitchenaid Pro Line® Series Waffle Baker does come in at a pricey $249.99 but this is a small kitchen appliance that can be a family investment. The one I tossed and didn’t make six month and cost over $100. Save yourself the battles I went through and invest in the one that IS the best. The one that can take all you throw at it and still clean up nicely every single time. That one is this one.
Love waffles! Every time we stay at a hotel, I make waffles for us in the mornings…one day I will invest in one of these. Thanks for the info! Your waffle looks delish! 😀
That looks great! I love waffles with strawberries and whip cream on them and whenever we stay at a hotel with the waffle makers at the breakfast bar my whole family goes crazy for them. This looks like a great buy for the whole family!
GASP!!!! Oh man, I’m jealous. I want one!!!!!
This looks amazing. I would love to have a waffle maker…and this looks top of the line…
What an awesome waffle maker! And if it’s from kitchen aid, you know you are getting quality. Ours really needs to be replaced and I’m really tempted to get this one. Thanks for the through and wonderful review!
I have loved Kitchenaid for a long time, and this looks like another great product from them. This would be such a great addition to my kitchen, making waffles would be so easy!
