Random Tuesday Thoughts – 3/23

Ugh. What a roll I’ve been on with sick children. As you know Gavin had been really sick from pneumonia for a over a week causing me to miss a ton of work and now this week Johnny has the puking bug. I made it to work and 10 minutes later I had the school nurse calling me.
My kids have got to get better and stay better soon or I am going to be out a job!
Grocery stores seem to really be stepping it up these days. See that cool gadget above? You can find those at Stop & Shop. I love that it tells me exactly what I’m spending along the way. The opposite side tells me all the money I’m saving along the way as well. You bring your own bags and bag all of your stuff along the way. In the produce section they even have scales that let you know and spit out stickers you can scan. This really helps me keep within budget. Plus, as you can see here it brings up additional savings along the way. If I didn’t use the scanner I wouldn’t get $.50 off the eggs. Along your way it will show many different sales throughout the store.

On the otherhand Big Y another leading grocery store in our area shut down and rebuilt one of their locations and this is what it looks like below. I wish I thought to take a picture of the produce section where the entire wall opened up and it felt like you were in a huge outdoor market. The deli, seafood, bakery, etc was all tiles and the whole place was covered in hard woods.

Did you have a good weekend? I had a GREAT weekend. While normally this time of year we are still getting buried in snow and trudging around in coats and hats that wasn’t the case! Saturday alone it made it up to 75 degrees and we made sure to get out and enjoy ourselves!

Around here St. Patty’s Day is well celebrated. We have a HUGE parade in our area and the parties and streets start shutting down the day before with a large road race that goes through the city. It is also the only time I know you can openly walk around with alcohol and be in a stumbling state.

While I did not attend those pre-day festivities somehow once dark fell the party landed at my house. I scrambled for a sitter and hurried to clean my house and had a night of fun.

Why is it that whenever we have parties here the quads come out? The boys always have to act like morons and go racing into the woods. They even pull out Johnny’s smaller version.

Remember the snow storm that buried us about 2 weeks ago? When we lost power for days.
Well we had trees fall all over the place. These are just from our front yard!
So, we took advantage of the warm weather and burned some wood. Next weekend we’ll do some real burning but this was just a small fire. (See the pile in the far left? That’s another pile lol)
Gavin of course had a field day pulling out the Step2 Neighborhood Fun Center and being able to go on our playground again. We didn’t take the bounce houses out just in case one of the ambers from the fire blew in its direction.

Ok, so that was a little more story telling then I planned. But I like pictures lol!
