Cooking Italian with the Cake Boss Cookbook with Margarita Pizza #Recipe

When I first heard of the Cake Boss I went bonkers as I actually live extremely close to them.   Since we weren’t too far away my husband and I actually ventured out and bought ourselves a few goodies from their shop in Hoboken.  Thankfully it was in the beginning of the fame and it wasn’t too crowded.  Now if you want to go there’s usually lines out the door and down the street!  Buddy has expanded the business and most of his cakes can be found in stores and even soon to be shipped online.

Buddy started on the Cake Boss on the TLC Channel, but did you know he also has a show called the Kitchen Boss?  True Italian home cooked meals.  When I heard about the book I was so eager to try the recipes.  There’s nothing better than a homemade sauce, that perfect pasta, or even an Italian Dessert!  The book has great tips and tricks and I absolutely love the beginning chapter where it goes into details about cooking methods and really explains it all for you!

One recipe that grabbed me right away was his pizza dough.  I’ll never forget the episode on Cake Boss where they visited Italy.  I knew it had to be good and I was so right!  I made it and it took no time to rise and I had pizza within 3 hours!  It was perfect for my sisters visit and even better to just pop a quick pizza in for hubby when he got home from work!

Margarita Pizza
Makes 3 personal pies

1 Batch of Kitchen Boss’ Pizza Dough
3oz Fresh Mozzarella
15 small Basil leaves
2 Small Tomatoes Sliced Thin
1-2 Cups Homemade Sauce **

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400.  Place pizza dough on parchment paper on a cookie sheet or pizza stone.  Top with about 1/4-1/2 Cup Sauce and bake for 5-7 minutes.  Add toppings and continue to cook until cheese is melted and crust is browned.
** I make my own sauce for pizza – 1 container of Pomi Strained Tomatoes, 4 Garlic Cloves Chopped, 1/2 Teaspoon Dried Basil, Pinch of Kosher Salt, Pinch of Sugar, and 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil.  Cook the garlic with olive oil and basil until the oil starts to bubble, add in the remaining ingredients and cook for at least an hour)

Home made pizza, Wow that looks yummy! Would love to try this recipe.

  2. JENNIFER!!! I thought I had supper all figured out (very rare that it happens this early in the day) and now I’m second guessing myself because of this recipe! It looks too good. Just have to find a way to make a gluten free version for DD1 – she loves margherita pizzas.

This looks very yummy. Somehow when I make pizza the crust always seems too dry. Any hints for me?
