My mom has always wanted a dog house for her Golden. She spends every second she can outside in her gardens and Kody (her dog) often gets hot and doesn’t have many places to get out of the heat. When I asked her why she never got one she said it was because they were always so expensive. When it came in it was really easy to put together. Johnny did most of it but my husband stuck around for a second set of hands when he needed them.My husband was impressed with it’s cedar solid wood. Plus, the cedar gave it a beautiful look. Personally, my mom is nuts if she paints it. I think a little bit of stain to preserve it would be all it needs.

As you can see it looks good from all angles. The wood edging is a little darker then we expected but I like that it’s darker so it doesn’t bother us. I think it compliments the natural knots in the wood nicely.

In the front the roof has an overhang to further help with rain, wind, and sun.

The bottom is raised to keep it from flooding or getting more dirt then needed in side. They have rubber nubs for added protection.

The inside of the doghouse is just as nice as the outside. There is plenty of space for my Mom’s large golden retriever to take a break and get some rest.
