{Wordless Wednesday} Sawyer’s Nursery – Finally!

Originally I planned on doing this big reveal and going through the room in detail and giving credit to some of the sponsors of my favorite products. Then the day before I did it I went into labor and now that Sawyer is here time is just slipping away. I wanted to make sure to share as promised so here is his room. These were taken 2 days before he was born and looks the same for the most part just with more clothing.

Here is the view when you walk into his room. It’s technically the master bathroom to our bedroom that we never finished. It works though. So we went with it and for now it lets our kids all have their own room. Of course in a year or so we’ll have to come up with a plan.

For right now we’re not using his crib as I want him right beside my bed. I do place him in here after I change his diaper and need to wash my hands. He loves his mobile and as long as the music is going I’m able to get stuff done.

And, yes, I know bumpers are frowned upon but it’s my choice to have one and really don’t want the comments on it. Thanks.

When you look to the left this is one side of his room. The first closet has all his clothes and below is all the products I’ve either reviewed, won, or bought that we’ll need in the first 12 months. The back closet is everything 12+ months. It also houses all our luggage and gift wrapping supplies, and some baby products I don’t plan on using.

Here’s another angle. I made it more the playroom side. I plan on putting a gate over the second closet entrance and laying down a small play rug or foam puzzle pieces.

Here is the other side of the room. This is the side I’m always in. It’s where the majority of the furniture is and where I keep the rest of his “supplies”.

Closer.

I love the wall stickies. Since it will be our master bathroom we don’t want to invest on paint or flooring. These (IMO) really took the room to the next level and pull it all together!

Storkcraft Aspen 5 Drawer Chest & Sawyer’s Nursery Sneak Peek! Review & Aspen Combo Dresser Giveaway!

Putting together your baby’s nursery is so much more then just cute and adorable. Having kids is expensive and in the end we want affordable and quality along with the cute and adorable look. Furniture is a big choice and in a sea of so many different styles, finishes, and options it’s easy to get overwhelmed.

I had a fire since my boys were babies so I couldn’t go with their hand me downs and well, I was all about the natural wood finishes but this time around knew I wanted all his pieces to be espresso in color. Finding the actual pieces for the room weren’t hard though as I knew I could count on Storckcraft for their quality pieces!

Here you can see one side of Sawyer’s room. Now his room isn’t the typical room. We ran out of bedrooms and the boys did not want to share their rooms. We had a large unfinished master bathroom off the side our bedroom and figured until he was out of his crib it would be a good fit. It actually worked out better then we had hoped it would and other then the less then attractive flooring and walls the space is pretty functional.

The first piece of Storkcraft furniture we owned was the Tuscany Glider and Ottoman. I actually did a review & giveaway on it several years ago. You can read the review HERE if you’d like. I’m super excited about having this as it will be a great perch for when I nurse. I have all my needs in a basket next to it and I just need a small end table to finish it off now. The glider is comfortable and glides nicely for rocking baby to sleep.

I was super excited to add in the Aspen Change Table w/drawer. I learned through the boys that having a drawer to hold all your needs is really important. I store medicines, thermometers, cremes, pacifiers, etc in there. It actually houses quite a bit and yet I still have a clean look. One complaint that this changing table gets on the websites is that the shelves aren’t espresso color. If you notice though it’s basically un-noticable once you place everything on it. I love the idea of having a changing table AND a dresser as I can really benefit from the additional storage space a changing table allows you to have. I can store a lot of small needs and linens on here and leave his dresser for less used items and clothing.

The finishing touch for this nursery and a very needed piece was the Aspen 5 Drawer Chest! It matches nicely with the other pieces in the room and can make a statement all on it’s own. The color is bold and the fact that it has 5 drawers really helps me maximize my storage and still be able to break down the way I organize things. The drawer sizes descend with the bigger ones on top and the smaller ones on the bottom. It also has easy pull knobs that make is simple to open and easy to close.

The Aspen 5 Drawer Chest by Stork Craft is gracious in size, with a desired sleigh design, offering plenty of storage space for your baby or child’s clothing.

Designed with timeless beauty, this stylish 5 drawer chest boasts the kind of good looks you’ll never outgrow. Drawers have adorable, round, wooden pulls and a durable glide system for extremely easy, smooth motions. Set up this chest, featuring sturdy, solid wood and wood products, effortlessly with the easy to follow step-by-step instructions. All Stork Craft chests are designed with security in mind, featuring a tipping restraint and fortified steel drawer glides with safety stops. Complete your nursery look by adding matching pieces by Stork Craft: Stages Crib, Aspen 3 or 5 drawer chests, combo dresser or a glider and ottoman.

  • Available finishes: cherry, cognac, natural, oak, black, espresso and white
  • Designed with safety in mind as it meets current U.S. and Canada safety standards
  • Matching pieces by Stork Craft: Stages Crib, Aspen 3 or 5 drawer chests, combo dresser or a glider and ottoman.
  • With 5 drawers this chest will keep your little one’s room organized
  • Constructed of solid wood and wood products
  • Easy assembly using sturdy cam-lock construction
  • Features a tipping restraint and fortified steel drawer glides with safety stops
  • Rich, durable, non-toxic finish
  • Limited 1 Year Warranty for Parts

You can see here that the color goes throughout all the pieces including the inside of the drawers. As you can tell I have lots of laundry to look forward still.

What truly makes this dresser though is the finishing look on the top. It really helps stand out with my sleigh crib and really takes it to the next level of style and design. I love how it helps showcase the items I place on top and on the shorter versions of this dresser it would hold a changing pad and double for you nicely!

Beautiful right? Well how incredible is this- Storkcraft is offering YOU a chance to win the Aspen Combo 3-Drawer Dresser! I can picture this beautiful dresser in so many different areas of my home and not just limited to the kids room! Wordless Wednesday – Sawyers Nursery Theme!

For weeks I’ve been talking about a specific nursery set for Sawyer. I technically already had a set but I was gender neutral and beige. The room I’ll be using cannot be painted or really decorated in anyway so it was going to leave the room really plain.

Problem?
I couldn’t talk hubby into it. It wasn’t a need and I was still in need of so many things. I got over my pouting and focused on the needs. I made a registry for my own use {which while being called tacky and presumptuous} was definitely useful. I was able to figure out everything I needed and wanted and put it together on one last. As I got things I was able to cross it off. Even if you’re like me and not receiving gifts I highly suggest the idea.

KidsLine Mosaic Transportation Infant Boys Nursery Bedding

Then recently while gathering some nursery basics I saw my set was getting discontinued. When I asked about it I was told it wouldn’t be clearanced just not restocked as things were purchased. Of course I went into panic mode. I talked to hubby again and he still wasn’t on the same page as me. He didn’t see the point. The 9 piece set was $199 alone. The set did include the quilt, dust ruffle, 2 fitted sheets, diaper stacker, 3 piece wall art, and valance though.

So, what’s a girl to do?
I raided the house and listed a bunch on Craigslist. It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you put your mind to it. I was able to find the mobile clearanced at a different store for half price. I sold more then I needed and last Friday I was off to BRU and look what I cam home with!!!

I got the 9 piece bed bag (quilt, dust ruffle, 2 fitted sheets, diaper stacker, 3 piece wall art, and valance) a second valance, lamp, rug, and blanket! It was the last bag set, rug, and lamp! There were no mobile’s either! I’m so glad I didn’t wait any longer! I definitely don’t regret it either.

Best part? Even though the bag alone was $199 I bought all the pieces pictured plus a bunch of other stuff and through my close out 10% discount, the sale going on with the bedding sets, and coupons I only paid $260 for it all! Score!

munchkin baby {nursery essentials} review & giveaway

I don’t think I truly realized how far baby products have come and how much brands have researched until Sawyer came into our lives. Sure, I considered myself up to date with baby products even though Gavin was older since I still had them coming in but I mainly stuck to the bigger items. I never realized how far even the little items have come too.The Munchkin brand hasn’t just taken into account what mom needs but they’ve kept it stylish and affordable at the same time.

When I was contacted by Munchkin I checked out their site as I do all sites. I hadn’t realized just how much they carried. They have products to help you in your nursery, with diapering needs both in and outside the home, feeding, toys, and more. When I saw the Bobble Bee I knew I had to have it.Johnny had a very similar toy and he loved it. The ability to attach to the swing tray, table, or basically anywhere with a flat surface made it a great toy we could bring places and he could interact with without knocking on the floor. What I love about this bee is not only can he stand and play but I can pull it out of the base (good grip baby won’t be able too!) baby can also have it as a toy they can hold just about anywhere.

Our interactive bee is getting great buzz. This toy is the bee’s knees! This colorful creative toy offers endless play possibilities. Make the head bobble up and down, spin the wings, roll the belly and listen to all the different sounds. The durable suction cup base keeps it secure when you set it on a high chair or table top. Or you can remove it from the base and use it as a hand-held activity toy. No matter how you play with it, this interactive bee is a real honey! Perfect bumble bee toy for babies 3+ months. Interactive play builds motor skills.

The product I was actually asked to review was the SaraBear® Diaper Caddy. It retails for $39.99 and at first I have to admit I was almost positive I wasn’t going to be a fan. Normally, I would have turned the product down but it was Munchkin. I figured I could find another use for it if I didn’t like it since the base basket looked to be my style.

Invented by a mom who saw a need for at-your-finger-tips accessibility to all the baby care essentials, each caddy starts with a custom Shaker style basket in a tight weave of real wood. A handle is attached on either end of the basket and can be collapsed to lie along the side of the basket. Each liner is made from a heavy-weight, 100% cotton fabric. The basket will firmly hold a baby wipes container, and has pockets for diapers, ointments, burp cloths and swabs. The caddies contain no PVC and the dyes used in the textiles are entirely formaldehyde-free. Any wood stain that is used on a SaraBear basket is water-based and lead-free. The packaging was deliberately designed without the use of plastics. At a moment’s notice or a baby’s cry, take everything you need to care for baby from one room to the next.

Let me tell you how much I LOVE this diaper caddy. I am so glad I decided to take it because now I need to find a new purpose for the other one I have because this SaraBear® Diaper Caddy by Munchkin because it’s going to be the perfect fit for what I need it to be. See my changing table and supplies will all be upstairs in Sawyer’s room on the other side of the house. I don’t want to have to go all the way there every time I need to change him. Or need something for him. This will allow me to not only keep his basic diapering needs conveniently down stairs but other extras too.

I love that the liner is also removable (velcro at the sides) and that the handle is flexible. When I filled it up with supplies and brought it downstairs to photograph I had my arms filled with other things like I likely will with baby later on. The flexible handle allowed the basket to lay flat with my hip while still being comfortable to carry. If for some reason my hands are dirty when I grab it I can also wash the cushioned handle.

There is lots of like spots and pockets for things I need. I can fit a full size wipes contained down the center and I still have four other pockets as well as four side pockets. I can store toys, diapers, lotions, spare clothes, etc all in the large pockets and save the smaller ones for clippers, diaper cream, vaseline, etc. Literally everything I need can be kept in small supply downstairs where I’ll need it most during the day. At the end of each day I can check it over to see what I used up and replace anything I need and I’m good to go again.

Munchkin actually has lots of different ways to help keep your nursery well organized! Another great option is their 6-Shelf Closet Organizer! Easy to hang closet rod sleeve fits most closet rods. 6-shelf organizer increases closet storave. Fits Munchkin Nursery Bins. Large, reinforced shelves hold clothes, blankets, shoes, toys & more. Retails for $19.99
