It Finally Happened.

I really do stink at keeping secrets. If it’s important and I really need to keep a secret I can do it. When it’s a good secret though I struggle. If you’ve noticed I’ve been all over the place the past two weeks here’s my explanation:

After 3.5 years of trying we finally decided to call it quits and move forward with our lives. Afterall, our children were only getting older and older. Of course that is when it finally happened!

Gulp, and yes, I did test three {cough six} times and get a bod test to confirm. Hey, this is for real. I didn’t believe that after one month of giving up it could happen. Oh, and did you know you can get a preggo test at the $1 store? Who knew?!

Wordless Wednesday [Cupcake Pancake Recipe] Birthday Fun

Sunday was Gavin’s 5th Birthday and we had such a great day! We start birthday’s around here with birthday cupcake pancakes! What are cupcake pancakes? Well, pancakes made from cupcake mix! Yes, they aren’t the most healthy choice but twice a year won’t harm anyone and the kids look forward to it. Plus, you start your day with a wish what’s better then that as a kid?

It’s super simple. I start with Funfetti Cupcake mix and make as directed.

It has sprinkles in the mix which is perfect for birthday’s!

I make small pancakes because these don’t cook like regular pancakes. They take awhile and you have to cook them at a low heat like 250. They aren’t the easiest to flip either so big ones would be difficult.

For the frosting you just mix water and powdered sugar and have it a little runny.

Drizzle it over the pancakes and it dries quickly like glaze on a krispie kreme donut. It’s so yummy. Add a candle and you’ve got yourself some yummy birthday pancakes!

Happy Birthday Gavin!

Yesterday we celebrated Gavin’s birthday! I cannot believe that my baby is FIVE. Where did the time go? It seems like just yesterday he was born!

His birthday was also Daddy’s last day of vacation so we had a fun and relaxing day planned. Gavin’s party isn’t until next weekend.

Of course you must start your birthday off with some fun and yummy cupcake pancakes smothered in frosting syrup.

Of course it wouldn’t be fair to make him wait a week until his party to get his presents so Johnny, Mommy, & Daddy all gave their gifts to him before we went out on the boat for the day. He was loving all his stuff. Especially the SpongeBob backpack he wanted so badly. Of course Mommy just had to fill every pocket full.

Gavin was so excited because we finally let him use the rope swing! He didn’t really go in much like Johnny but he was very pleased just by dragging himself through.

Since we had a cookout on the river a big cake was hard to do. We had this little one and he loved it!

When I got out of the shower so we could go to dinner that night I found a very tired little boy.

Happy 5th Birthday Gavin. You are one loved little boy and you have definitely brightened our world the past five years!

Play Ball!

Saturday was absolutely insane for me.I had a baseball ceremony, 2 games, a preschool birthday party, and then to my surprise my own birthday party. I’ll warn you now that this post is filled with photos. This is Gavin’s first year playing Tball and Johnny’s second year playing minors.

Someone thought it was a great idea to kick off the baseball ceremony at 8am on a Saturday morning. We march from the police station to the field. We get a police and fire engine escort over. We then all stand around the field for the actual ceremony of the Pledge of Allegiance and the first pitch.

Gavin’s first Tball game was then at 9am. He was so excited! After years of having to sit around his brothers game he was glad to finally be the one on the field.

Of course you can’t expect a 4 year old to be serious the entire game. A little happy dance here and there is expected.

Until it’s time to bat and you hit a really good grounder past the pitchers mound.

There is something about the helmet that puts him into serious mode. Here he is standing on first just waiting for the chance to run to second.

And thrilled beyond belief when he gets to run home!

From here I dropped Johnny at home to help his father with the fire. It was the last weekend to burn and because of moving the shed and cutting down some trees we had lots to burn. I then brought Gavin to his friends bowling birthday party. After that it was run home and grab Johnny because it was time for his first game.

Of course at his age the game is all serious.

At least he’s always easy to find among the blending uniforms with those hideous yellow addidas cleats his father let him get.

He makes it nearly impossible to get any good photos of him. He’ll make sure to stand at angles I can’t get him at. Of course unless he’s waiting for his turn to bat and I happen to call his name forcing him to urn around.

Of course we’ve now entered Gavin’s nap time (yes I’m spoiled he still naps!). He was getting rather miserable at this point and completely frustrated that he couldn’t see the screen to his Nintendo DSi XL. We finally got him happy by flipping a chair over him for shade. He was so pleased with this and remained like this for most of the game.

From here we brought Johnny to a friends house to hang out and then home to put Gavin down so I can finally get a shower. Then we were off to what I thought was dinner with the inlaws but was actually a surprise party for moi. And for the record….. I’m still in my 20′s, for now.
