Make Your Own Gold Glittery Christmas Letter Decorations

Overall, I love the look of silver and brushed nickel but when it comes to Christmas I am all gold. I love the way gold looks with all the glitter and lights and this time of year I want my whole house to sparkle. Recently I was walking through the stores looking at all the holiday decor and I kept stumbling upon all these pretty glittery words but they were so expensive. I knew I could make them for so much less and I was right! Here’s a simple tutorial on how you can too!

Supplies Needed:

First you’ll want to find a good work surface. We used the side of a cardboard box ripped down. Then take your acrylic paint and lay on a thin layer. I used the Martha Stewart paint I linked to above and I have to say it’s great quality. A very thin layer went a long way.

And when I say we did it, I mean he did it.

Let them fully dry before moving on. For us that wasn’t very long. The first letter was pretty much dry by the time we got to the last one. As you can see the metallic paint worked so well.

For the next step I recommend working over a paper plate or some sort of surface that will help you tunnel your glitter back into the jar when you’re done.

Paint on a coat of modge podge ONLY on the top surface. Do not do the back or sides.

Then sprinkle a good layer of glitter over the modge podge while still wet.

Set aside and let dry.
